The YHA Ravenstor is a lovely building, in a good location and ideal for exploring the surrounding area. The car parking on one of the two roads to the YHA was plentiful. The hostel dorm room we stayed was a reasonable size. The beds are fairly new and comfortable. Slept okay for a hostel. Shower rooms clean enough, although the...

This is the first time I have stayed in a YHA since I was at school and I was so pleasantly surprised by my whole visit. I stayed here for two nights on my own before a local cycling event and I would really recommend it for all, particularly solo female travellers such as myself. Service at reception was brill...

Stayed here with a large group of friends for one night. The rooms are basic, as to be expected, but clean and comfortable. The food available was very good, and quite reasonably priced. There is also alcohol available for purchase. Staff were friendly and helpful. The location is lovely and peaceful, with plenty of parking. We did have a member...

This is a national trust property run by YHA. The staff are working harder than Ive seen anywhere, rushed off their feet and always with a smile and helpful. It's a beautiful mansion, and still has most of its feature retained. YHA have modernised it in as much as the sitting room is a TV lounge with bucket chairs, no...

It is a long time since I have stayed at a YHA and they have improved their game enormously. They are still aimed squarely at people engaged in outdoor pursuits looking for cheap, simple accommodation. But they are not nearly as crude as they used to be. It is dormitory accommodation in shared rooms - but they have different rooms...

I spent two nights here travelling to Yorkshire. Peak season in August and the staff were rushed off their feet a lot of the time but the service was excellent, they couldn't be more helpful on reception. Excellent home cooked curry the first evening, and decent breakfast. Lovely garden and grounds. Wifi available on ground floor, dodgy reception. One of...
