This Travelodge was not bad; I could do it again. As usual the lack of things such as any low lighting and of any drinking glasses annoy me, but I’m used to it. On the plus side the carpet was new, and bed good. Shame room cleaners are too lazy to check and report broken soap dispensers, however - when a basic thing like this is overlooked (and let's face it, basic is the name of the game here), it REALLY grates!
Stayed here from 16-18 october 2021 and have to say the staff are brilliant, particularly Jo she goes the extra mile to help the guests with any problems or queries, she is just a fabulous person. Thank you for everything Jo you really helped us with our booking and rooms
I have stay at this particular travel lodge before so I was very disappointed with the last stay . Check in was great Elaine was lovely. Upon checking in a note was pinned to reception stating lift not working. Partner disabled so had to struggle up 4 flights of stairs when we eventually got to the room is had an unpleasant smell which meant we had to have the window open most of the night. So our stay was not the best. Traveloge you need to think more about accessibility when your lift is out of order. My partner suffered badly the next day from pain & Fatigue. Travelogue, maybe next time you could email your customers you already have our details then we could make alternative arrangements
So everything started normally, check-in, we got our cards and ... The lift is not working and we had the room on the 3rd floor. We got to the room, no spoons, cracked AC socket, the bathroom was dusty, some pieces of unknown black debris in the bath, bathroom floor seems to be rotten under the vinyl and the light not working properly. The room was not hoovered at least since the lift failure, carpet stained, bed stained and dusty around and was weirdly done - the last thing not a big issue as it was nice view outside and it was an interesting atmospheric phenomenon to watch. I often take timelapse photos so I put my camera at the window to take some shots. You are welcome to check my youtube channel. After some time, the receptionist knocked then entered the room, even if I asked her to wait a minute so I can put my pants on as I just got out of the shower. She did not wait. She got in! Saying there was a report about somebody doing a surveillance of the carpark and that could be a terrorist threat. She did not wear a mask, did not maintain any distancing, running between the window, my camera and me, asking a lots of questions, what am I doing, why I take pictures of the clouds, can she check pictures... I was stunned, like on a very bad Police questioning, still standing in my pants, with wet hair. She said, she is sorry but she had to to that. She had to do that? Really? If that was a terrorist threat, why did she come alone to the room with possible terrorists and she was the only person from the staff at that time in the hotel. It just does not make any sense to me. She said I cant take any more photographs and left. We thought that was it, no more problems, but no. Around 8pm, some youngsters started to ride their sports cars on the carpark and they did that until around 3am, then... started to play songs using their car hornes! Unbelievable things they could do when they teemed up. Different tones, different cars, hornes and exhaust pipes. Everything until 4ish. The next day morning tere was nobody at the reception and a big sign saying NO LATE CHECKOUTS today. Fab! I know travelodge is not bad hotel to stay, but the one in Basildon should be avoided at any cost. No excuses.…
Check in was quick and easy upon arriving in room we were pleasantly happy with the cleanliness of the room and how clean and fresh it smelt. Once we were ready to check out we spoke with a lovely lady called Ceri who was very polite and made check out very easy for us as we were in a rush to get to home. Would definitely stay again.
