Nice hotel centrally situated in Banbury. We had to change rooms after first night due to corridor door slamming closed on the closer. The room doors also closed loudly due to not being able to retract the door catch. Having said that, the hotel was nice and to the usual Mercure standard .

We visited this hotel a couple of years ago and stayed in the old part of the hotel. We enjoyed our stay so much that when we just wanted a short break we knew that we wanted to return to Banbury because we love the area and also that the only place to stay was the Whateley Hall Hotel. This...

First experience of Whately Hall and its staff and I thoroughly recommend a visit. We were served by Youssef who was so professional and yet so personal to our group, there was nothing too much trouble! He handled a dozen "young"ladies with ease ;),we were all served together and the food was lovely. Liz L

Cannot praise Youssef and his staff enough for making my 60th birthday celebration so special. Nothing was to much trouble, we were looked after very well. The afternoon tea was fantastic, I can thoroughly recommend it.

We had a lovely time at the Whately for 'Jane's 60th'. The food was fantastic and we were served and looked after by Youssef. He was amazing! Thanks for a great afternoon with fantastic service. I would recommend this to all, as very reasonable priced and we were so well looked after. We moved into the garden half way through...

My wife and myself attend a friends funeral which I have to say was organised perfectly. We must make a particular comment regarding your Manager Youssef (not sure of his surname). He was attentive, professional and made sure not just us but the whole of the room was looked after. I also noticed when he talked to the principal of...

The hotel is a three star but is better than that. Yes a little tired in some respects but the staff and food make it all worthwhile. Lovely location too with Banbury to the front and a pretty park to the rear. Nice gardens too. Easy parking but a very narrow entry to it! We had a great stay and...

I was really struggling between giving this hotel a 3 or a 4 star. Without a doubt the old manor hall that part of the hotel resides in, is its saving grace. Beautiful gardens and characterful rooms give the main part of the hotel a wonderful appearance and feeling for all guests, you cannot hope but feel somehow special staying...

Dear Dwatkinsuk, Thank you for taking the time to review a stay here at Mercure Banbury. I am glad to read you r4 stay rating of your hotel despite some obvious areas for improvement which we can take on board and address, with the exception of the church bells which do chime all night every 15 minutes. Although the hotel is a little tired looking, accommodation was good. We were in the newer part, room was spacious, very clean, and comfortable. Surrounding area had lots of pubs and cafes. Although not eating in the hotel, the menu looked good.

Dear Graham C, Thank you for your comments, I am sorry that you were unsure of what you were being served, I am not sure which particular event you were attending or why you had to wait. I can only apologise if the flavour of the tea or coffee was tainted. Thank you for your kind words about the grounds...
