From the minute you walk in, nothing is too much trouble. The staff are lovely and always smiling. We were made to feel really welcome. Meals are excellent and reasonably priced. This is the second time we have stayed at the hotel and certainly not the last. Thank you to all of you at The Royal.

Just got home today from a 2 night break at the Royal Hotel our 4th stay here, the team at the Hotel are truly excellent and are genuinely happy to look after your every need. we were in room 40 a river view room with a balcony which was very nice and cosy with a lovely powerful shower, we had supper there last night and it was very nice and large portions with super attentive service , and the wine selection was very good and reasonably priced. We were very impressed with the hotel's covid attention whereby you needed to reserve a table to even have a drink here , and tables spaced apart accordingly made us feel safe whilst enjoying our pre new year few days away. The breakfast was excellent also. Well done to Matt, Sally and the #team Royal Hotel you really made our stay a great pleasure once again, and we look forward to returning someday soon. Best wishes to all for 2022

We have stayed at The Royal on many occasions but this was the first time for the Christmas package. Five of us stayed and it was very good right from the start. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Great food especially the Christmas dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back soon.

The Royal is a Greene King pub and hotel. We stayed here Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day. The hotel is very clean and rooms are a great size. Ours overlooked the river. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. They take time to chat to you and make sure you have everything you want. I have to say that considering this is a pub chain the quality of the food served was exceptional - and size of meals and presentation of them was spot on. Staff made a brilliant job of preparing the restaurant and the meal time system they operated meant you where never waiting. Honestly can not praise the team here high enough.

I'm currently staying at the hotel after an unexpected covid turn of events (not related to me) meant I had to choose between having or not having a Christmas (and seeing my parents next week and losing all the money I'd paid to stay and dine here to boot) on Christmas eve evening! Not an enviable situation. I have been treated so kindly by all the staff. None of my requests to accommodate my situation have been a problem, and I've been treated extremely courteously by all staff. I've never had to spend Christmas alone before but it's actually been a very relaxing joy! The room is clean, spacious and very comfortable and the rest of the hotel is very lovely. I would completely recommend as being in a fantastic location and having absolutely fabulous service by great staff.
