Saw this hotel from the road and decided to stop off. Arrived at 8.15 without a booking - friendly welcome and shown to a comfortable room. Really good 10 oz steak (£14) and a couple of pints of Welsh bitter - just the job. Comfortable bed, smallish ensuite, shower OK (could do with some new towels) and a good English...

We stayed at the castle lodge over the valentines weekend. Our room was spotless and very comfortable. Steve made us very welcome. There was plenty to choose from on the breakfast menu and all freshly cooked and served very quickly. Overall we couldn't fault our stay at this great little hotel and will definitely be back.

Cosy hotel, friendly staff and that's about it. Took us 25mins to receive our starter (over cooked) and a further 30 mins to get our main course the beef was so over cooked (requested medium) I gave up eating it, we won't get into the chicken. The rooms were pleasant enough and clean, however, the bed was so uncomfortable and...

We have just returned from our fourth visit to the Wye Valley Chamber Music Festival and our fourth stay at Castle Lodge. We were welcomed like old friends and for the week enjoyed the home comforts of Georgina and Steve, the proprietors. The rooms were comfortable and perfectly serviced. It took time for hot water to come through but it...

At last, somewhere that can serve a room full of people with delicious, well cooked food. Lovely surroundings, plenty of parking and quick service. We have tried lot's of places that on the face of it should be able to meet this but as yet only this hotel has done it well.

Came here for Christmas party and absolutely appalled by service we received. Food was substandard. Landlord was extremely rude and very opinionated. I have worked in a bar before and have never treated customers like I was treated this evening! Would not come again!

Stayed for 1 night. Paid £120 for a fairly low standard all round. We had an en suite bath room with no shower and a very out-dated suite. At a superficial level the room and bedding was clean but the skirting boards etc were very dusty and the overall appearance of the room was shabby. This was a real shame...
