We stay here once a year to break the journey from Surrey to Inverness. We have reviewed several times over the years so I won't add anything more other than to say we received the same levels of friendly hosting from Mark and Morag and that the standards of food, drink and accomodfation are as high as ever.

Following Christmas with elderly relations we brought ourselves back to sanity by giving ourselves Dinner Bed and Breakfast here. Hosts very relaxed and welcoming, the room traditionally furnished (no flat pack here) to a very high standard, the kingsize bed and duvet were seriously comfortable. The meal was superb and the dining area although small was very comfortable and busy.(book...

From reading previous reviews I was certainly not disappointed by any aspect of our stay in The Hightae Inn. From the moment we arrived until the second we left I have nothing but good to say about both the Inn and the owners & staff. Our room was bright, airy and impeccable and ideally suited for our overnight stay with...

We stayed at The Hightae for one night in Nov on our way back down south after a business show in Glasgow. We received a warm welcome from Mark and our room was lovely, cosy and comfortable and spotlessly clean. Our evening meal was heavenly as was breakfast the next morning. All in all an excellent experience which we plan...

I found this hotel purely by chance and I am so glad that I did. I stayed for one night on 11/12/13. The room was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. I arrived earlier than I expected (before 5) and was warmly welcomed by Mark. I ate in the bar and all I can say it that Morag's cooking is to...

We enjoyed our stay here, but were bothered by noises from the room above. The Inn is old and as a result the sound of footsteps, etc were a bit of an annoyance. The owners were very hospitable, but don't try to check in before 500pm. We were turned away when we showed up at 400pm, so we sat in...

Many thanks for taking the time to post your review - we're sorry it wasn't a perfect stay for you. You're right - it is an old building and as you went to bed early, you heard the occupants of the room above settling down at night. With regards to arrival times, we do state on our website and via...

While browsing Trip Advisor we couldn't resist booking here. It was ideal - a few miles from the A74.Located in Hightae, a small, pretty village between Lockerbie and Lochmaben. Booking enquiry was handled well including our need for a ground floor walk-in shower. This had been a failing pub but Mark and Morag have breathed new life into it as...

We had a one-night stop-over at the Hightae Inn on our way south from Glencoe.Quiet location, lovely room, not huge but nicely decorated and good bedding. It is also worth having your evening meal here which was excellently prepared and good value. The breakfast was also good and service was just right. It was well worth the short detour and...

We stayed here on our way back from the Isle of Mull. We had a warm welcome from Mark and were shown to a room which was small but very well furnished and had fresh milk which was a lovely change in a B&B room! The Inn cannot be faulted for its food and service, we had a good nights...

“On a practical note, it was impossible to fill the kettle under the tap in the bathroom basin. Also, fresh milk in the room was provided on arrival, but not available for the early morning cuppa as the owners were not around to request it; uht milk would have been acceptable, but not supplied.”
