We first visited riverside at the end of a 2 week holiday around the north of Scotland .I have to say what a welcoming couple Martin and Heather are ,nothing was too much trouble .The setting is an absolute mirage if you like a peaceful stay in accommodation that is furnished to a very high standard this is it . we had a lovely evening sitting out and watching the river flow by ,followed in the morning by a lovely home cooked breakfast .We then walked by the river to watch a family of otters at play ,an absolute joy . I then returned for 2 days in September , I’m familiar with the area as we used to spend our summer holidays in Lockerbie .This time I took my mtb with me and had a fantastic re aquantance with this lovely area . Then after a day in the saddle a lovely relaxed evening sat out with our hosts with a beer or 2 .The setting is truly spectacular and a place that I would highly recommend to travellers .

We broke our journey on the way to and from the Highlands staying overnight with Heather and Martin. A little haven for weary traveler's. Such a relaxing and peaceful location beside the river Annan, teaming with wildlife. we saw Herons and Kingfishers while sitting out on the deck. Our 2 rooms were extremely comfortable, quiet and well furnished with great walk in showers and super comfortable beds. Martin and Heather were lovely hosts and Heather cooked us some super breakfasts with their own free range eggs. We would love to stay again so will need to plan another holiday. Thank you both for making our stay great.

My Father and I first stayed here as a stop off on the way to The Highlands, since that first visit we have returned a number of times, on this occasion we used this as a base for a two week break in the South of Scotland. Heather and Martin are wonderful hosts, who clearly enjoy having guests at their property. The accommodation is most comfortable has ample draw space and a walk in cupboard(so lacking in hotel rooms today) and overlooks the River Annan. The Herons were out and about during our stay, wonderful to watch. Also of note is the sun rise over the River Annan which is really beautiful and peaceful.Breakfast is in the main house with a wide variety of birds feasting outside the breakfast room window. The property has a summer house which can be used to sit out in during the day or early evening. Heather even provides a small fridge and microwave to enable guests to prepare evening snacks if they so wish. The accommodation is in a really peaceful area of the country yet only minutes from the A74(M) and Lockerbie Station.,consequently it is easy to reach many attractive areas of the country. The general ambience of the place is really something which has to be experienced, it is possible just to do very little and relax at such a beautiful site. You should go, you will not regret it.

Our only regret about staying at Riverside Mill was that we couldn’t stay for longer. The B&B was in a peaceful spot beside the River Annan, with plenty of birdlife. We didn’t see otters, red squirrels or kingfishers in our short stay but all are known to visit, and we did see lots of birds including swallows, siskins, pheasant and goldfinches. Our hostess, Heather, was very friendly and welcoming and our room was spacious and comfortable with a huge walk in shower in the ensuite. The accommodation has 3 rooms; 2 in an outbuilding and 1 at the end of the owners’ house. Guests also have use of a small building beside the river, with comfortable chairs and windows that allow for cosy wildlife watching. The breakfast was good with some lovely fresh fruit as well as a cooked breakfast and cereals. We would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again if we were in the area.
