Friends had ribs (lovely) haggis cigars (lovely) others had roast beef as mains said beef melted in mouth, another with steak was cooked to perfection, steak/ale pie was also very good All in all not one complaint from food, service was good also. Stayed one night here with a mate who was moving to Helensburgh, driving from London. The hotel was very clean and instantly felt very comfortable after a long drive. Leigh and her young colleague (sorry, didn’t catch your name) gave us a fantastic welcome and great service throughout our stay. The food was also fantastic: both the amazing double burger (with fries AND onion rings) in the evening and the great fried breakfast in the morning (other options available). I had Room 4 and initially was a little concerned that the light and potential noise from the petrol station next door might disturb my sleep, but it didn’t, so don’t worry if you find yourself in Room 4. All in all a really great stay and many thanks again to Leigh, her young colleague and the chef for their friendliness and professionalism. :-)

Stopped here on my way back from Glasgow. Clean comfortable spacious room. Lovely evening meal, stew with fresh vegetables, and a large flaky pastry. A pleasant and welcome change to the norm found elsewhere.. Earmarked for next time I go north of the border.

Room Tip: I had a corner room overlooking the rear, so very quiet. May not be the case though in summer...

Soup, ribs and prawn cocktail to start, all good choices. Fantastic Sunday roast beef, meat melted in your mouth and there was a huge plate, would definitely recommend. Chicken burger was really spicy. Service was fairly quick, staff pleasant. Total bill just over £80 for 4 starter's, mains and soft drinks. Would return.

While not a 5 star hotel the hotel itself is way better than most with a well cared for and welcoming exterior and clean and bright rooms. The staff were all great. We stayed in room 2 which has been mentioned in a previous review however we found it perfectly acceptable. Where this hotel excels way beyond any I've stayed in lately is the food. The steak and ale pie is not to be missed, delicious and plenty of it. I can usually manage a desert but not that evening! The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. Food was reasonably priced too.
