Okay but didn't feel welcomed. It was clean enough and breakfast was okay. The beds in the accessablev rooms were awful, so soft you felt the springs. We arrived early and asked for a cup of tea, well i paid for the tea and the 3 night booking next day, but was asked several times if we had paid for the tea, found this rather upsetting. We stayed for 3 nights and that was enough. The town folk were suoer friendly.
We had the best day / night at the Shetland hotel It was our wedding reception and evening party The food was exceptional as were all the staff A massive thank you to Angus for organising and being master of ceremonies from my wife and myself for a day to remember
Friendly and comfortable. Helpful staff and clean spacious rooms. Convenient for the ferry, just across then road The lounge bar area could do with a little more seating and the dinner menu is a bit restricted.
Just spent a lovely week at the Shetland Hotel. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The room was clean and it had everything we needed. The food in the restaurant was good and at a decent price for a hotel. It was also ideally situated for the ferry terminal and was only a short walk into the town centre. Would definitely recommend it to anyone coming to Shetland.
Let's be honest: the outside looks like a Soviet era bunker. The inside has top quality furnishings, but largely untouched since the 1980s and pretty tatty. The corridors are dark and gloomy. It's mostly as silent as the grave, although there is some traffic noise from the main road right outside. Many of the window panes in the public areas are misted up. But despite all this, we rather liked it, and would stay again. The traffic noise didn't bother us, and we're usually pretty sensitive to that. The hotel has a fully wheelchair accessible room, that is - for a change - practical to use (although they need to sort out a better shower seat).
