My wife and I had a 3 night stay to visit relatives in the area. This is a great Scottish hotel ideally located in centre of Grantown on Spey. The rooms are clean, warm with comfortable beds and welcoming additions, all you need for a relaxing stay. Breakfasts can be selected from an extensive menu from a full Scottish with haggis and black pudding to cinnamon toast. All the staff are welcoming and friendly which makes such a difference to be wanted and welcomed. We highly recommend this traditional hotel which has recently been updated. Grantown is a lovely highland town with access to the highlands.
We had afternoon tea at the Garth and really enjoyed our time there. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful and made sure we had hot tea and coffee, which were both very good. We started with a small cup of soup which was a nice touch. We then had a selection of 3 different types of sandwich. The scones were lovely and fresh and were accompanied with cream and a lovely homemade berry compote. We then had really nice chewy meringues, crisp fruit and cream tarts, fruit loaf, millionaires shortbread and flapjacks! We didn't manage to finish the food as there was such a selection. The hotel seemed very well run and very clean. Sanatiser was on every table for guests use with plenty space to move around safely. Lovely way to spend an afternoon
This is a quaint and couthy hotel built in 1769 and renovated to a high modern standard keeping the original features. Rooms are beautiful with attention to small details that make you feel at home. An nespresso coffee machine too! Food is delicious and served well. There’s a good atmosphere in the breakout spaces and we will definitely want to come back.
We were given a voucher by our family for 2 nights. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean, the staff were all extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. The food was also lovely. There was plenty of choice on both the restaurant, bar and breakfast menus. We were also able to spread the gin flight - which was part of the deal - over our stay. Also a lovely part of the world. Would definitely recommend.
Great wee hotel. Staff are friendly and welcoming, rooms are comfortable and clean. The food is outstanding. The duck starter and venison main was 'November on a plate'! Steak on the 2nd night was one of the best I've ever had. Majority of the food items are locally sourced; menu reflects this and is changed daily to suit local sourcing. The amount of walk in trade for tables, given time of year and week we stayed, indicates that the hotel is building a reputation for excellent food. Breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day. Whilst the staff were very friendly and helpful, they could do with a little more training in catering/waiting skills. Not a big criticism but inexperience amongst some was noticeable. Rooms, snug and bar have been recently refurbished to a very good standard. I assume that this is ongoing work as the restaurant area was clean and tidy but very old school Scottish traditional. Hallways, reception and exterior was a little bit tired and needs refurbishment. Car park area/entrance to it needs resurfacing. Overall, would highly recommend staying at the Garth Hotel as the food and accommodation was excellent, providing an excellent base for a visit to the Spey area. If the refurbishment is continued and completed over the next few months, then this will be a regular visit by us for short breaks. Well done to the management and staff at the Garth Hotel. …
