Stayed here for one night with a coach party. On first sight all seemed well, decent public rooms and restaurant and food was good. However the route to our room had badly patched carpet and torn wallpaper . The room itself was at best tired and the bathroom dated and with patches of what appeared to be brown mould. The enamel bath was badly chipped and in the morning no hot water could be found in the shower- a common issue amongst our party. Staff were pleasant enough. Having seen the photos on this site clearly coach parties are the poor relations here.

3rd time here, love it. Staff so welcoming and friendly and big shout out to Anya the waitress at breakfast who, with a smile, helps with anything you need. Room, very comfortable - we were lucky to have a large room with a beautiful view to the front of the hotel. The bar is well stocked and very reasonably priced and we were served by a lovely young bloke on the Friday night - didn't catch his name. The whole entrance area and round to the bar had comfortable seating. A coal fire was on and it just was a lovely place to relax. Also a bonus if you have a dog as they are very welcome. We will definitely return. Thanks to everyone at The Craiglynne Hotel.

We stayed at the Craiglynne October 17-18, 2023 through our tour group Costsavers/Trafalgar. Our bathtub had mold, the food was not fresh, frozen Alaskan salmon, (not fresh local salmon), the beds were hard and uncomfortable, we had to keep our window shut on the second floor due employees smoking underneath, and the staff, Stephan and Tommy the managers treated our legitimate complaints like we were overreacting. The second night at dinner, Stephan came to our table and rudely and unkindly told us that we couldn’t sit at that particular table since that wasn’t the table we had sat at the might before Huh? Made us move that ultimately put us right next to the construction taking place. Yes, that’s right, with a packed full dining room, construction continued behind us. Nail guns popping, hammers banging, the outside door wide open with the cold air coming through. This triggered my husband’s military PTSD. When we asked Stephan to do something he said there’s nothing he could do. He was rude, condescending, and arrogant. He even decided that during our second upsetting conversation to reach over and try to touch my shoulder. When I spoke to Tommy S. the general manager, he was just as unconcerned and dismissive. He admitted that they serve frozen food for dinner while claiming the white, not pink salmon was normal. Caitlyn at the front desk was AMAZING through this whole ordeal and I told Tommy that. I would never recommend anyone staying here. After looking at reviews this place has been like this for a few years at least and nothing has changed. I will be following up with Bespoke and Trafalgar to do my best to get their contact pulled. Completely unacceptable. 0 stars.

Stayed in room 208 this time..lovely super king bed. Very clean and comfortable room. Staff all helpful, especially restaurant and bar staff. Plenty choice at breakfast. I think one of the staff Maybe called Lee? Was fantastic. How he has to put up with so many rude people on his case I do not know. This guy was run off his feet on Thursday morning 19/10/23. But 2 ladies kept picking at him for everything. He kept very calm and carried out their wishes. This hotel is reasonably priced and you get what you pay for and a little extra in my opinion. Only issue I had was my fish was overcooked on Wednesday evening..it was sorted quickly though. 5 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Excellent value for money, friendly staff, great location and a warm welcome. The breakfast was superb. Very dog friendly, I will be back! The hotel had a great central location, with the only negative being that the TV in our room could not get a picture.

Despite some negative reviews we had seen we decided to book and stay. It was excellent, helpful and very friendly staff, large, modern and well appointed room (#61). Dinner was very good and breakfast enjoyable, couldn’t fault anything at all.

This hotel looks beautiful from the outside. There’s no signage pointing to reception at all along the whole frontage. We did find a door at the far end which was jammed open with a large boulder. After walking the full length of the hotel we eventually reached reception where the carpet was covered in pet hair, didn’t look like it had been hoovered recently. Two members of staff walked past us, never acknowledged us or offered any assistance. The chair I sat on in reception was a bit ragged and very worn. After getting our key we made our way to room 54…disgusting. Carpet is stained, walls are marked, storage heater is dirty, woodwork worn and dirty looking, bathroom was revolting ( see photos). No channels available on tv. Two electric sockets on the wall between the headboards…health and safety? There was no way we could stay there and sleep comfortably. In fact this hotel does not match the description of it on Tripadvisor”…has just been refurbished to the highest standards”. We did not expect luxury given the price however we did not expect what we were offered, so we stayed less than one hour. The fact that there’s only four photos on the hotels website should have rung loud alarm bells! I should have read reviews prior to booking. Having emailed our comments to bespoke hotels, the manager of Craiglynne authorised a full refund which was received within three days of contact. We were also offered a one night stay in a refurbished room to evidence the work being done to improve the hotel.

Wouldn’t take too much to get this up a notch. It’s not very good but is better than average in my opinion. We stayed here as part of a coach tour so weren’t expecting 5 star standards. The bedroom was a bit tired the tv very small and the sink was in the bedroom as no room for one in the En-suite. But couldn’t fault the cleanliness and the bed was very comfortable. The reception area was dated but seems to have been furnished originally to a high standard with nice lights carpets and comfy and plentiful seating . The food was ok for the price. Breakfast was good , buffet style with plenty of choice and really nice coffee from the machines, but dinner portions were a bit on the small side. Good having 3 choices of each course though. Drinks were reasonable prices and staff were efficient and friendly.

We were unfortunate to stay here on the Glasgow September Holiday weekend beginning on Friday 22/09/2023, and put in here by TARTAN TRAVEL from Glasgow. I will write a separate review about them as well. On arriving on the Friday, we were informed by the receptionist and our coach driver Peter that our evening meals would be at 6.30pm and breakfast at 08.30, and these would be our running times for the duration of our stay. Before going on i'll just mention our Coach driver Peter was absolutely brilliant the whole weekend, and we put no blame on him for anything ! We went for our dinner on the Friday with our friends, and to be fair we felt the food was just okay, but tiny portions eg for myself...small bowl of Tomato soup, the thinnest slice if Turkey sitting on a scoop of mashed potato then a small slice of sponge with a spoonful of custard. One of the guys called Stefan, who was serving us had a terrible attitude, no eye contact, never a smile and when my friend asked about one of the dishes he just said what do you want. We watched him with others in the restaurant and he was so negative and rude, refusing families requesting to sit together and just saying no to people who asked for an extra bread roll with their soup. We then ended up walking into town for some drinks and something to eat as we were starving !! On the Saturday we went at the allocated time for Breakfast and we were met with a situation of utter chaos in the dining room, which was a buffet service and a queue from the food area right out the door, waiting for food to be replenished ! Apart from that the breakfast was okay once you had waited 20 minutes to get it and get back to your table. We returned from a daytrip and there was another coach at the Hotel with a group of Canadians going into the Hotel. We thought it was strange that all of the staff were outside bringing their luggage into the Hotel, which was never provided for us !! We went to the restaurant again at our allocated time of 6.30pm only to be met with some of our elderly group being spoken condescendingly by the so called Manager Stefan, refused entry and told to come back in an hour or so. My friend & myself intervened and asked him not to be talking to people like he was and mentioned we were all guests and should be shown some respect. He said he didn't care, not his problem as we had not booked. We mentioned the running times we were told on arrival and he said no, the other coach was now getting that time. We were really angry but kept things calm, with no shouting then said we were taking our seats at the allocated time. He then said we would only be served when it suited him, and he told the other staff not to serve us. after about a half hour my friend asked him again and he threatened to have him removed. We ended up getting our food, which was horrible and we left going into town to the Benmore Hotel Bar, which was much more friendly and their Manager invited us into a function at the back of their Hotel where they had too much food left at their Buffet and told us to help ourselves...Thank You !!! The next morning we met the other Manager Lee who couldn't have been nicer, and the restaurant was quieter so we had time to relax. Overall, we would not stay here ever again. At least half the seats are heavily soiled and you have to make sure you pick a clean seat. Our room was the same, soiled & stained carpets and chair with a fusty unclean smell the same as in other rooms we were told about. The best part of this whole episode for us was Checking Out !!!

When we arrived on the Friday evening at 16:30 for a two night stay we were told that evening dinner would be at 18:30 and breakfast at 08:30. When we came down for breakfast there was next to nothing left and had to wait approx. 10mins before everything was replenished. By this time the queue was nearly out the door of the restaurant. As if this wasn't bad enough about 08:45 an 80 year old man who had terminal cancer asked for sausages as they had ran out again and was told there was none, then your staff must have thought better of themselves and said yes they would go get some. They left the man standing there for 15mins and some of the staff when passing him were laughing (an absolute disgrace). I know this as fact as our table was right next to where it was all taking place. When we returned that evening from our day trip we went down to restaurant again at 18:30 to be told abruptly by Duty Manager Stefan dinner had been moved to 19:30 and to leave his restaurant now. When we challenged him, Stefan started to blame our driver as he is meant to go and ask reception on a daily basis when breakfast and dinner is. How ridiculous can this be and if true Craig Lynne get your act together. It is my belief it was because a bus load of Canadians had just arrived and were given our slot as they could possibly be bigger tippers than us. After a 5min confrontation with Stefan he gave our party an area within the restaurant and said he would send waiters around in 5mins to take our orders. 10mins went by and nothing. At this point I decided to go talk to Stefan to understand what was happening and again he said in a dismissive manner he would send waiters around in 5mins. When he said this I challenged him to send waiters whilst I was there as I didn't believe him and the then Stefan gave a smirk and turned his face away from me. I told him not to be ignorant and look at me when I'm speaking to him. He continued to demand I go back to my seat and I kept saying no and finally he said you will leave my restaurant now and of course I didn't. His ignorance got even worse as he just turned and walked away from me and left our party sitting in a secluded section of the restaurant until 19:15 before he sent waiter service to our area. The following morning when we arrived for breakfast I didn't know what to expect and was not looking forward to seeing Stefan, but was actually greeted by another Duty Manager (Lee) who was so approachable and could not have been more helpful to our party and other guests. I am not the kind of person who looks to get someone sacked, but Stefan is a very ignorant, arrogant young man who has no behavioural skills especially for the business he is in. Stefan has been mentioned in other reviews for the same issues. Craiglynne do what is right for your hotel as I will not be recommending your hotel to anyone until this young man is dealt with.
