They were great. Superb service and a relaxing atmosphere throughout the hotel. The surrounding wooded area is brimming with wildlife and mellifluous bird song. If you need to escape work and city stresses then I would certainly recommend HHS.

This place was fabulous! I loved the care and artistry that went in to every corner of the property. The building is located among fairy-like woods, only a short walk into town. The restaurant and bar area has a working fireplace and beautiful traditional English decor, including plaid curtains, forest green walls, elegant wood furniture, and lovely paintings of animals...

This was our second visit to the hotel and just as enjoyable as the first. The hotel is full of individual character with extremely friendly and helpful staff. The food is excellent offering great value and choice from breakfast though to dinner. We had the early bird special each night which left plenty of time to walk down to the...

An ideal location for the Lakes. Hidden in the corner of quiet pretty woodlands looked promising. However the facade if the hotel was initially off putting covered in scaffolding. There are extensive gardens and terraces but were hard to explore due to the weather. Once inside it felt like a country house and a family home. I can't stress that...

A lovely lunch as always. Food and service excellent and very reasonably priced for the area. This family run hotel can always cope with groups with ease. I have eaten here in the evenings, lunch times and during the Christmas period and their standards are consistantly good. One of my top places to eat.

We have eaten there 3 times since Christmas and each meal has been first class. The local pork, lamb and steak are all very good and very competitively priced. Yet the outstanding dish on the mains menu is he local venison. Quite superb. Our American guests agreed it was a high standard and some features of the menu like almb...

We have been with family and friends for special occasions and Sunday lunch many many times over a number of years and have never been disappointed with anything. The welcome on arrival, the small lounge with blazing fire on a winters day, sitting with a drink and the menu till taken to your table is the start to an enjoyable...

Hampsfell house is like going back 20 years, before the small portion contemporary food came into place. A lovely bar area for pre dinner drinks , lovely open fire. Keep up the...

Lovely private hotel with warm and friendly staff mainly family members. Have eaten here before but this was the first time with over night accommodation and we were definitely not disappointed. We had a lovely comfortable bedroom, breakfast was excellent and as usual the meal in the evening first class. Lovely restful place to stay with lots to do in...
