We had a fantastic 3 day break at this magical inn and cannot speak highly enough of the whole experience. A warm welcome, superb food which was faultless, stunning views over the Fowey estuary and a comfortable room. The staff were great and we had help straight away with our luggage up the stairs to our bedroom. There is a... More

Although our stay was conformtable enough, we felt it very old fashioned that our private bathroom was not an en-suite and instead was down the corridor with a seperate key to let ourselves in and out. This is not very practical if needing the toilet throughout the night. The room itself was also very old and cold and needed updating.... More

My wife & I spent a day and night here as we where attending a Birthday nearby and we were very impressed with the staff and accommodation, it is a typical old Cornish Inn/hotel so don't expect 5star city accommodation but it's fantastically quaint with very friendly staff especially Peter and a young blonde lady who welcomed us. It's located... More

Take the ferry from Fowey to Bodinnick (2 minutes) & pub overlooks Fowey harbour. Some steps to climb to reach the restaurant but very pleasant dining room with views across the estuary. Good choice of menu & food was good though steak was underdone.

Just returned from a lovely stay at the Old Ferry Inn for three nights. On arrival we struggled to find the small car park slightly up from Inn and were lucky to find a space I think. We arrived early evening and were asked if we could eat early as the kitchen was closing shortly. This was not a problem... More

We come to the area every couple of weeks and twice now (in a row) we have been there for food and have been turned away. The first time was a group of four people and they said they had stopped serving - fair enough. The second time was on Friday evening. We saw there were several people in there,... More

A beautiful place to stay if you like to get away from it all. Wonderful views across to Fowey with all its little boats from most of the rooms, from every seat in the dining room and from the terrace. Comfortable beds, delicious evening meals cooked by the French chef/owner and no problem if people have a gluten-free diet. As... More

This was our first stay in Fowey, which is definitely worth a visit. We had arrived at 5pm that day and not really knowing the area we opted to try the Old Ferry Inn which we had come across on our journey to where we were staying. Unfortunately we were disappointed, we arrived at 20.05 pm, the bar maid serving... More

Cant beat the location! Not as much atmosphere as when the previous landlord had it but its definitely improved inside. Fully booked when i stayed and that was before peak times. Food was great too. Garden has amazing views and the sun sets on that side of the river. Service was excellent!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated on the banks of the Fowey River Estuary in the picturesque village of Bodinnick, The Old Ferry is a quintessential Cornish Inn that has been providing accommodation and refreshment for over 400 years. We overlook the Bodinnick to Fowey ferry which can trace its roots back to the 13th Century, and 'Ferryside' the former family home of Daphne du Maurier. The Inn with its relaxed and warm welcome has many traditional features including a wood burner and stone slate floor, and is full of old photographs, nautical bric-a-brac and memorabilia. The perfect place to while away time during the winter months. Our panoramic restaurant gives fantastic river views towards the town of Fowey and the village of Polruan. There are also south facing outside terraces which also have splendid estuary views, and capture the sun all day, a perfect retreat for a summers day. ... more   less
