We've recently returned from what should have been a 2 night stay but we had to check out a day early because of the room! Awful, awful, awful, Room 2 should be put out of service! We expected 'old' features and charm of course, but that room...wow....the Owners should be ashamed of themselves for even considering it a suitable room...

Yes the location of the Inn is great. The views from many rooms are wonderful. But that's it. This place is unfortunately past its sell-by date. Visited with a friend on a Travel zoo deal which was very good value I have to say. However I certainly wouldn't have wanted to pay the full price. Everywhere is shabby and needs...

Just spent a couple of lovely nights in this old inn. Beautiful location. Right on the river. Fantastic view from our hotel room. Quite a large room with plenty of storage, very warm, let down slightly by a small bathroom. Just enough room for a shower, toilet and hand basin, though underfloor heating. Main wash basin in bedroom (something I...

Fabulous room, overlooking the Fowey river (right above the ferry dock). Lovely room (albeit with separate but private bathroom), the views were breathtaking. The restaurant has similar views as does an outside seating area (where we enjoyed a lovely cream tea). Food is also available in the bar which is cosy (and as far as I could tell, unchanged in...

Stayed here on a Travelzoo 2 night B&B with dinner on the first night and cream tea. The staff here were warm, welcoming and very helpful during our recent stay. The old part of the hotel is comfortable and the rooms were clean and adequate for our 2 night stay. The shower room and loo in Room 2 gave us...

We had a room with views over the river to Fowey and out to sea, always something to look at. Enjoyed excellent seafood - scallops, mussels and boullabaise and freshly cooked breakfast to start the day. Hall walk into Polruan starts just up the hill from the hotel, through woods with views of the river.

A quaint, comfortable and very good value place to spend a night. Lovely food and a hearty breakfast served. Be prepared for the charm of a building that is over 400 years old. Might not suit you if you are too much over six foot as ceilings are low. Stunning harbour views from the restaurant. Staff are lovely. Thanks for...

We entered the pub hoping to watch the 6 nations rugby match between Wales and Italy. Unfortunately the only tv available was in a room being used to accomodate a birthday party. After making the necessary pleasentries we were welcomed in to watch the match. The atmosphere in the pub was electric. We didnt eat but the party goers certainly...

Beautifully positioned with great views. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. The room we had for 2 nights was well appointed. We ate dinner in the restaurant both nights and the food was of a high standard and well presented.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated on the banks of the Fowey River Estuary in the picturesque village of Bodinnick, The Old Ferry is a quintessential Cornish Inn that has been providing accommodation and refreshment for over 400 years. We overlook the Bodinnick to Fowey ferry which can trace its roots back to the 13th Century, and 'Ferryside' the former family home of Daphne du Maurier. The Inn with its relaxed and warm welcome has many traditional features including a wood burner and stone slate floor, and is full of old photographs, nautical bric-a-brac and memorabilia. The perfect place to while away time during the winter months. Our panoramic restaurant gives fantastic river views towards the town of Fowey and the village of Polruan. There are also south facing outside terraces which also have splendid estuary views, and capture the sun all day, a perfect retreat for a summers day. ... more   less
