Located on the banks of the picture-perfect River Thames in Surrey, just 10 minutes from Windsor, The Runnymede on Thames is a modern hotel with a relaxed atmosphere. Inside, you’ll find a buzzy lounge and buffet style restaurant. Elsewhere, there’s the award-winning spa and a gym. Outside, discover the tennis courts, seasonal outdoor pool and river-based activities! Guests can explore Windsor at ease, thanks to complimentary transport between The Runnymede and Windsor. *Throughout 2023 and 2024, The Runnymede will be undergoing a refurbishment, at the end of which it will be repurposed as a Warner Hotel. The hotel will be operating as usual in many areas. Please be aware that there may be changes to some facilities and the offering and the hotel may not always be looking at its best as there will be ongoing construction. *Regretfully we will be unable to accommodate family stays. My friend & I stayed here for 1 night on a "sparkling sunday" offer, which included late buffet lunch with bottomless prosecco 3.30-5pm on day of arrival, free movies in the room breakfast and access to spa facilities. We found the hotel to be of very good standard with friendly staff, the food in the leftbank restaurant was very good for a "buffet" style meal.

The standard double room was cozy, as we were 2 friends not a couple, we had requested before arriving if a twin room was available and was told we could upgrade to a twin for £55, but we chose to keep the double as had already paid £170 for the package. It is a shame that following our request they could not offer to move us to a twin if was still available when we checked in given the fact the hotel was not especially busy but hey ho it did not spoil our stay!

We were also dissappointed that we could only use the spa facilities after checking in on the day (2pm) and before check out (11am) because our meal was booked for 3.30 we did not get much of a chance to use it on the sunday, however fortunately we were able to keep the room until midday on check out so could use it after breakfast, however again I can imagine this not being an available option during busy periods.

The spa is small but nice, the pool is small and is closed for classes, it has a sauna (including womens only sauna in changing room), steam room, jacuzzi and an infared room, which was not quite as hot as a sauna. there are also some lounge beds around the pool area but are quite often reserved by users of the spa (which also has private membership as well as residents).

Overall an enjoyable stay and we will probably return, even if we just book a dinner B&B stay as the the food was the highlight of our stay!

Thank you for your positive review of The Runnymede on Thames. I am pleased you found the hotel to be of a very good standard, and also felt our team were very friendly. It is also great to learn you liked the food in Leftbank and thought it was very good for a ‘buffet’ style meal. Furthermore, I am happy you perceived the spa to be nice and made use of all the facilities that it has to offer. However, my apology that you felt the pool is too small and that most of the beds were reserved by spa members. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon on your next stay with us. Kind regards Craig Spencer Resident / Guest Relations Manager

I booked the W/E of 1-2/8/20 at the Runnymede on Thames for my husband's 89th birthday, and as a getaway treat after so many months of confinement. We had a nice room (242) overlooking the river and the lock. I had booked an afternoon tea on Saturday 1/8/20 to celebrate my belated birthday in March, which was delicious! Lunch on Sunday 2/8/20 to celebrate hubby's 89th birthday was very enjoyable as well. Breakfast is included with a choice of English and continental. The location of the hotel is ideal for guests who love walking, cycling, boating, and enjoy good food. Bell Weir lock is literally a few minutes walk from the hotel and leads you towards Runnymede and the Magna Carta site if you turn left. If you turn right pass the bridge, it takes you towards Staines via a very pleasant, relaxing river bank walk through the forest. The scenery is serenely beautiful on both sides of the river. There are many beautiful houses with private yacht mooring. On the walk towards Runnymede you will pass along many narrow boats, quaintly decorated, with flowery parterres and colourful benches. Ideal for "people watching" too! There is an incessant flow of cyclists, joggers with their doggies, boats, kayaks, dingy boats, yachts of various size and shape passing through the lock. The hotel has a fleet of boats which guests can actually hire by the hour. On Sunday afternoon, two banjo musicians regaled the guests with their joyful music. All in all, a very pleasant short break in peaceful, relaxing countryside.

Thank you for your great review of the Runnymede on Thames and I am delighted that you enjoyed your husband’s birthday celebration. I am so pleased that you enjoyed the afternoon tea and found the food delicious. I is also pleasing that you enjoyed the riverside setting and the walks along the towpath to the Magna Carta memorials passing all the boats and houses overlooking the river. I’m glad you liked the musicians that were playing on the terraces and hopefully on your next visit you will be able to hire one of our boats for a trip down the river. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Runnymede soon. Kind regards Craig Spencer Resident / Guest Relations Manager

We came to celebrate a relatives significant birthday from a distance so decided to treat ourselves to an overnight stay.
We had a most comfortable room with everything one could want for and Breakfast was well presented and very delicious.
The celebration was a feast of good food at lunch time, no room for evening fare!
Lovely seasonal decorations.
Thank you, we expect to return.

We stayed at The Runnymede during August and it was nice to get away from home for the first time since Covid.

The reception staff and pool staff really tried their very best to make it a releaxing pleasant stay and as this was our first experience here, I can't compare it to normal times.

Just to note:

1. It is really disappointing these days when there is no plug or USB by the bed or anywhere near the bed. It is such a basic requirement that everyone wants and hotels that don't provide that now look outdated.

2. Restaurant staff were a bit surly and part of that is because they were overrun.

Overall we had a nice stay and we are grateful to the hotel for providing a respite in these weird times. They handled the Social Distancing and Covid quite well (although it didn't appear that the hotel was guests only).

Thank you for your review of the Runnymede on Thames and I am pleased that you found the reception team and pool team helpful and that they tried to ensure that you had a relaxing and pleasant stay. I have passed on your feedback regarding the usb ports in the bedroom to the Maintenance Manager and this will be reviewed in line with other feedback we receive. I am, however, truly sorry that you found the team in the restaurant surly. We always ensure that there is backup from the hotel team to support the outlets if they are busy so I am sorry that you felt they were surly due to being overrun. I am, however, pleased that you had a nice stay and that you found the social distancing measures in place adequate. We are open to non residents but also operate a track and trace system so we can account for all our guests. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Kind regards Craig Spencer Resident / Guest Relations Manager

I stayed here with my management team for an offsite and planning session. The whole event was superbly managed. The service from the front desk to the restaurant and bar was great. The warm welcome and quality of service was excellent; so much so that is distinctly stood out. The food was delicious and the breakfast, in particular, was a feast for the eyes as well as the tastebuds. The meeting room was bright and airy with everything we needed and welcome refreshments were served throughout the day. The location is superb and easily accessible for the M25, M40, M4 etc. The rooms were very comfortable and I slept like a log. The views of the river and the ability to go for a stroll down the tow path to clear one's head and recharge is a boon. I highly recommend this venue for business and pleasure. Finally, I'd like to thank the team who are superbly trained and made the stay all the more enjoyable. Thank you!

The hotel is in a great location right on the banks of the Thames. On entry guests are requested to use the temperature check machine then wear a facemask in public areas. We paid extra for a river view room, we thought it was worth it. The room was pretty compact but it had everything we needed for an overnight stay including mini fridge and tea/coffee making. The breakfast service seemed a bit haphazard but maybe that's staff & guests getting used to the new arrangements. A server seats you then gives a tick chart for pastries / cold meats / fruit / cereal which is then delivered to the table. For cooked breakfast you go to the hot food station where the chef cooks eggs to order and serves other options you request. Generous portions, we really enjoyed it.

Thank you for your lovely review of the Runnymede on Thames and I am delighted that you found our location on the banks of the River Thames great and that you appreciated the procedures we have in place to protect both our team and guests. I am also pleased that you enjoyed the river view from your room; on future visits do please enquire about the deluxe rooms that will give you more floor space. I apologise for what seemed a haphazard service at breakfast as this is not usually the case and may be due to a lot of guests arriving at once but I am pleased that you enjoyed the generous portions from the hotel food counter. I booked adjoining rooms for my daughter and me, which was great as it meant that I could watch TV when she was asleep in the evening. Lovely view of the river in the daytime. The food at breakfast, and in the buffet restaurant in the evening, is great - really a wonderful spread. (My daughter especially loved the chocolate fountain!) The spa/pool is very nice, with dedicated time slots for children to swim so you don't feel like you're disturbing anyone, and the separate kids' pool is brilliant for younger children.

Only one word for our experience today - superb. I had booked a hire of a boat from the hotel and four sparkling picnics, to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The weather had been very iffy, with sunshine and heavy showers forecast all day. Although I had booked the boat for two hours with the intention to have our picnic on the boat or at the riverside, Craig and Luisa ( both of whom were brilliant in every respect - thank you) gave us the option of either cancelling our boat booking with a full refund of the rental, or to take the boat for one hour between the showers . We chose the latter which proved a wise decision as we managed to catch the brief interlude between heavy downpours. The boat was excellent and easy to navigate. Craig gave us a good briefing and our hour on the boat was totally enjoyable.
On arrival back at the jetty the hotel had very kindly arranged for us to have our sparkling picnics in a quiet part of the restaurant. The picnic was wonderful. Great sandwiches, superb savoury items, macaroons and strawberries and cream. Really top notch.

We enjoyed being at the hotel today so much that we stayed on to have coffee in the cafe area . Next time we will make a weekend of it and stay over.

On the basis of our experience today I really can’t fault this hotel in any way and I would heartily recommend. . We were treated like VIP’s by both Craig and Luisa and I can’t thank both of them enough for their professionalism and great service. And the main thing, my wife had a wonderful time, a real birthday to remember!

Our first holiday in the UK began by staying here. We drove around 4 hours from Newcastle excited to use the outdoor pool (we got lucky with the weather). We arrived earlier than expected so we were excited to quickly get changed and get outside by the pool. On arrival, the reception told us there was no slots available to use the outdoor pool and apparently we should have been told this when booking (which we did not). We advised that it was the main reason for booking the hotel as it was more pricey than other hotels we looked at. After asking to speak with the manager strangely we were able to go by the pool where there was sun loungers available. The pool area is lovely and with the weather it was just perfect.

After around 45 mins by the pool we were told we had to leave for 30 mins (strange) as the next slots would be arriving. Nobody seemed to move so we stayed put and there was still plenty of sun loungers to use when the next group of people arrived (roughly 5:30-9:00).

Indoor pool is lovely and you don’t need to book.

Make sure you have Breakfast here it is amazing and lots of choice!

Overall lovely stay but just need better communication in terms of the outdoor pool.

Thank you for your wonderful review of the Runnymede on Thames and I am delighted that you found the hotel lovely with an amazing breakfast. I am sorry that the team were not able to give you access to the outdoor pool on your arrival. We are limited as to how many people we are allowed in this area and regretfully this session was fully booked. I am, however, glad that the Manager on duty was able to check for non-arrivals for the session subsequently and allow you access to the pool. I am sorry for any inconvenience caused but pleased that you enjoyed the pool and were fortunate to have the sun as well. We do operate 2 hour sessions with time in-between to clean the loungers for the next group. As this was the last session it was not booked up and I am pleased that the team allowed you to stay in the pool area. I am also pleased that you found the indoor pool lovely. I have passed on your feedback to the Reservations Team regarding the pool communication and hope that this will not deter you from revisiting the Runnymede in the future. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Kind regards Craig Spencer Resident Manager

We booked afternoon tea for my daughter's birthday. The service for booking and queries was vefy efficient. On arrival, your temperature is scanned and then you are taken to your table which are well spaced out. We had a table overlooking the lock. The cost of the afternoon tea includes a glass of fizz and then a selection of sandwiches and cakes including a cream tea. They accommodated my dietary need without issue. It was reasonably priced at £28 per head. I would have preferred a wider selection of sandwiches and i didnt particularly like the vegan sandwich.
