On overnight stay with my wife in Callander- the weather was a challenge with the streets cover in heavy snow and very little opened. A visit to The Crown for a festive turkey dinner then back to Crags lounge which has a welcoming open fire and we were made welcome by seats next to the fire. Friendly atmosphere and very enjoyable. Breakfast next morning was excellent and very friendly staff. The room was spotless and A good range if tv channels. Highly recommemded.
Our room was a family room with two bedrooms and a large modern bathroom so there was plenty of space to move around . The breakfast was delicious. There was a lot of noise from the bar ( it was a Saturday night after all) but we didn’t mind it and it didn’t stop the children from sleeping.
Lauren and her team were amazing. First of all, they showed so much flexibility with issues we had with dates for our booking. During our stay we were looked after so well by Keeley and Avril, who couldn't do enough for us. We have special dietary requirements, which they catered for, including creating stunning off-menu dishes just for us! Any extra requests we had, they were very happy to help us with. Our three-night stay at the Crags (including two meals at the Abbotsford Lodge), was characterised by exceptional customer service from the friendliest staff you could hope to encounter in a hotel. All in all a lovely experience. We would recommend booking one of their rooms with "garden view", for the most tranquil and peaceful stay. Even on a Friday night, any noise from the bar subsided at 10:30, which made us feel that the hotel prioritise their guests. We'll definitely be back!…
I stayed for one night, and have to say it was great, the room was pleasantly bright and clean, also good tea facilities. The bedding was fantastic clean and white, with really comfortable pillows, staff were very polite and friendly. Also a good Scottish breakfast included, would not hesitate to visit the hotel again
Was Not what we expected read the reviews on the hotel and they were good reviews so on that we booked for a night! Our room waz quite bright... It wax quite clean the shower and toilet were nice good bathroom heater and nice shower! However on sitting on the bed was a different matter.... You could feel the coils in the matress was so uncomfortable!! My husband didnt sleep well at all and had a sore back... I didnt sleep well either!! To add to this the room we were in was near the bar so rhe noise waz terrible.... Had to put the volume up on the tv to try and drown it out!! So we didnt resllyhave s good experience... Was neant to be a king size ensuite... The bed was a Normal size as was the room definitely not ensuite... The price was far too high for the room we got.... So it really wasn't what we expected at all very disappointing.... The breskfast wasn't that great either.... We have stayed in a number of hotels etc there is no comparison with this one... Made us wonder why most reviews were favourable!!! Or do they only put on the best reviews on there review site 🤔🤔🤔.... …
The hotel itself is lovely. The bar is welcoming and charming. As are the staff. The breakfast is great. Rooms very clean and tidy. Quiet too. Dog treats on arrival. Bar drinks good prices. My only criticism is the mattress. Rock hard and lumpy and thus both our nights sleep were bad. Other than that, we do really like this place. Bright and airy. I'm not sure we could return again due to poor sleep. A little disappointed as this cost £100+ a night. On our last morning to we were do tired from 2 nights of lack of sleep we opted to leave breakfast and just go home...6 hours away. It's such a shame. As this is a lovely hotel. And everything else seems up to standard. But the bed has really affected our stay, a weekend away that was a surprise for my husband. £200+ now feels a waste if I'm honest. Changes and upgrade the mattresses and we would be back again.…
Looks like some money has been spent quite recently on room refurbishment (at least in the room I was allocated) with new carpet, bed, furniture and the en-suite. Everything in the bedroom and en-suite was spotlessly clean. The en-suite had a walk-in shower with an electric shower unit. As it was a top floor room it was decently quite away from the hubbub of the bar. The full Scottish breakfast was excellent and service was friendly. There's free WiFi, I was getting between 10 and 20Mbps. Also the evening meals are excellent from a range of Indian dishes. That said, the details let this hotel down, for example The tap in the sink was loose and wobbly (room 3) No soap dish in the walk-in shower The bedside light was connected to a 4-way extender hooked over the headboard No net curtains on bedroom window which was overlooked I was on the dot for breakfast so there still a noticeable disinfectant pong from mopping the floors. Also, there was an surprising note in the hotel info about the bar being a traditional 'boozer'. That is true, it was pretty much rammed and raucous on a Saturday night. If you're paying up to £80 for a double with en-suite, this hotel is fine. If you're asked for more, I'd keep looking.…
Book this hotel for 2 night stay in standard double room with breakfast and bottle of Prosecco in room with itison voucher. I had to contact the hotel again a week or so later as we didn’t get email confirmation as promised. Email was eventually sent but confirmation was now for a superior twin room rather than standard double but room looked fine on their website so thought it was fine. On arrival we were shown to what was described as a small double on their website, certainly not what we had booked or what they had confirmed. We were unable to change as they said hotel was full but they did offer us a free 2 course dinner. As we had made the journey and sorted childcare we decided to try to make the best of it, however after 1 night we decided to leave as we found the room claustrophobic with its small size and sloping ceiling, the bathroom/shower room was very small and radiator wasn’t working so very cold. I just wish they had advised us beforehand that they could not fulfil booking and we could have rearranged the dates or booked elsewhere.…
A planned visit with family, on arrival all was explained as we were shown to our room, every staff member said hello with a cheery smile. The room was lovely and clean with ample space for three of us (family room). Within the room itself were toiletries, towels and additional bedding if required. A small refrigerator with coffee and tea facilities available. The dining staff were excellent with options available for an Indian and European-menu. We opted on both nights for the I Indian choice which was delicious and the Chef even came out asking us if everything was okay, our reply was absolutely delicious! The breakfast options were varied and we made changes to what was on offer and nothing was too much trouble for them. On very regular intervals we were asked if there was anything else was required and if what we had was okay! If I had one complaint it would be that the beautiful little cozy lounge with an open fire was fairly small and it was too busy for us to have a seat but it was lovely! Thank you to all the five star staff, who offered us a lovely stay at extremely reasonable prices. We will definitely return and thank you for helping to make this a lovely visit to Callander!…
This beautiful wee hotel is definitely worth a visit, never met such friendly warm and welcoming staff who went above and beyond for us, felt right at home straight away, the bar was warm with its open fire and well stocked bar, the locals were friendly and chatty, we will definitely be back hopefully soon
