#3 of 7 hotels in Callander
Travellers' Choice
The Crags Hotel has been taken under new management as of the middle of June 2017, we are very excited to make the place our own and to welcome our new and returning guests. The hotel is located in the heart of Callander, which is surrounded by stunning scenery and historic Scottish landmarks. Our restaurant is open for guests and to the public Wednesday to Sunday for lunch and evening meals, serving delicious home made meals throughout the day. If you are looking for somewhere with lots of character, a warm welcome and friendly locals, the Crags is the place to be.

Chose Callander as a random venue for a get together and so pleased we stayed at The Crags All four couples had more than adequate rooms with the only complaint being it was too warm ! The staff were all friendly, helpful and very welcoming The bar is cosy with a real fire and we had some great banter with the locals Dinner and breakfast at The Waverley were both of a very high quality and staff great there too Wish we had stayed longer

This hotel was cold, unwelcoming, no staff about in the two days we stayed there. The room was tiny - really a large single. The floor sloped and the beds tilted to the centre (poor sleep for two nights as we woke up feeling we were falling out). The shower (toilet cubicle) filled up within 2 minutes of operation and threatened to flood everywhere. So no shower. An absolutely minute wash hand basin too tiny to wash with. A sign on the wall informed us that the drainage couldn't be fixed. (I could argue it wasn't fit for usage then....) Even the toiletries on offer were sparse - one shampoo, one body wash. . Breakfast the next day was in the pub over the road. They'd promised dairy free but when the morning arrived the waiter announced that they sometimes did dairy free but "not today". We weren't looking for anything fancy in a hotel - but the cost was ridiculous compared to the service/facilities on offer. We'd been in other hotels in previous nights on our touring holiday - all excellent and cheaper than the Crags. Frankly - I'm embarrassed for International travellers coming to Scotland and finding this level of facility at that price and lack of welcome. We don't like to use Trip Advisor in this general way and it seems very cruel to the owners but we feel it's important to warn people. It's the first time in my life I just wanted to pack up from a holiday and come home.

We have just spent 5 wonderful nights at The Crags hotel in Callander. The hotel/pub is an ideal place to stay, the staff are fantastic, nothing was to much for them, always had a smile and little chat for us. We had stayed here before when the previous owners were there, it was OK but now it is greatly improved. Bedrooms are cozy, clean and comfortable, if you needed anything it was left outside your room more or less immediately. I was a little concerned that we had to go across the road to their sister hotel for breakfast, I had no need to it was great, we were able to chat to other residents from both. The breakfast was delicious, pipping hot and good quality ingredients, again nothing was to much for the staff. It was also nice to see the owner on the shop floor serving breakfast and behind the bar, she was lovely, made us feel so welcome and has a great sense of humour. Thank you Lauren and all your staff for your fabulous hospitality, I'm certain you will see us again soon

Lovely hotel in the centre of Callander. Room is clean and comfortable. Friendly welcome at check in. Restaurant is currently closed due to staff shortages. This is not a problem as the sister hotel is just a very short walk away. Had evening meal an breakfast at the Waverley.Food an service are excellent
