We have just returned home after spending 5 nights in the Tom Hayter room, one of their dog friendly bedrooms, with a small patio. The bedroom was spotlessly clean, with a very comfortable king size bed and a great shower. On arrival, we received a very warm welcome from Kelly and the cake and coffee were much appreciated. She explained about the history of the hotel, places of interest in the village including where to find the wonderful Bakery and the importance of keeping the gates shut with ponies, donkeys and cattle that roam down the streets! Brockenhurst is a lovely village with easy access to the various attractions around the area. We visited Hurst Castle, Milford on Sea, Lymington, Bucklers Hard, Burley and finally Mudeford, where we took the ferry from Mudeford Quay across to the beach then a lovely 2 hour walk along Hengistbury Head, with fantastic views of the Isle of Wight. Well worth the £2 each way ferry fare. Each daily adventure started with a splendid breakfast. Thank you all for looking after us and Mungo and look forward to seeing you all again soon…
only stayed one night, but charming place, room has lots of character, very quiet, honesty bar in the evening, and the breakfast certainly sets you up for the day, Nice place and god value. Nice touches as well like the parking spaces are all allocated before you arrive.
We had a 3 night stay which we thoroughly enjoyed. The hotel is spotless. The rooms are lovely. The staff are so friendly, especially Kelly who really makes you welcome. The breakfast is great and the White Tails restaurant within is intimate and the food is delicious. well worth a stay. We would definitely return.
Superb! Loved this hotel! A warm welcome with cake and tea or coffee was a lovely touch on check in. The hotel is right in the middle of Brockenhurst ideal for lots of different activities in the New Forest and beyond. Superb room (Exbury) with our own balcony to enjoy the early autumn sun! Also watch out for the horses and donkeys munching on the lawn opposite! The breakfast was superb… fresh local produce served to perfection! We also ate dinner on two nights at the hotel at ‘Whitetails’ restaurant which is managed separately by a lovely chap Ramsay. Book ahead as it’s super popular and #1 on this platform! The staff at CL were lovely and we’d like to thank them for looking after us!
Just returned from our second break of 2021 at this small hotel in Brockenhurst and will be booking again for next year. You are made to feel welcome as soon as you drive onto the forecourt and take your allocated parking space which is indicated by a welcome message. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful; it seems nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are all different with beds made from trees felled in the forest. The Breakfast is excellent and although the hotel itself does not have a restaurant there is an independent restaurant occupying the dining room most evenings which is excellent and well worth trying
