Whole experience was great from start to finish. The owner was very welcoming & nothing was too much trouble, food was great & interior is quirky and comfortable. The dog was also very welcome! Its not a luxury high end place, but good old quirky British pub. Would def stay again

I've been to The G&D several times and its always been fantastic. It's one of the most original pubs I've been too, with a real local feel yet with food that quite frankly could be served at a 5 star or Michelin. It's suited to a cosy winter get away or a summertime afternoon tea or beer. Hosts Sarah and... More

We stopped off on our way back from Scotland to London as it was about half way. It is close to the A66 but in a quiet village. The atmosphere was so relaxed it was almost like being part of the family. The food, and real ale, were excellent. The room was lovely too although they had been having problems... More

Stayed here on overnight to Scotland in March 2013. Lovely Inn in beautiful countryside within easy access to A1. Owner very friendly and welcoming, rooms spotless and comfortable. Food excellent with very generous portions taken in restaurant with roaring log fire. Breakfast also superb and that was served in the delightful and cosy parlour room. Can take your pre dinner... My wife and I travelled up from Derbyshire to find the location of a camp site we will be staying on during the summer. Decided to make a leisurely time of things so booked an overnight stay at The George and Dragon in Boldron. A lovely pub in a quiet location, a warm greeting on arrival and a beautifully prepared... Dinner was equally fantastic. The food, the welcome, the very comfortable and tastefully decorated bedroom - what's not to like! We spent one night here in March and wished it had been longer. Arrived slightly early on a cold, snowy afternoon to be very warmly welcomed and made to feel very much at home. Fully intend to repeat our visit... More
