Swimming pool, sauna, steam room, gym, table tennis, putting, croquet. Excellent facilities. Food very high standard. Tragic story of the MacRobert family. There is a book that you can purchase written by a local...

Many thanks for your lovely review and I hope you enjoyed reading Marion Miller's book about the MacRobert family and Douneside! We recently had Marion visit and she delivered a fascinating presentation to all our staff about the history of Douneside. Our staff recognised some of the antique furniture which we still have in some of the bedrooms in the...

Had an amazing stay at Douneside House. We stayed in the Gatehouse Cottage which was so lovely and quaint. It's 3 ensuite bedrooms are spacious, comfortable and pristine with just the right balance of country cottage versus modern living. The cosy living room, complete with log burner, looks out over the amazingly picturesque grounds. We took the short walk up...

The story of the MacRoberts boys is tragic but the response of their mother was inspirational and this house delivers on her intent when she established the MacRoberts Trust. The hotel reopened in Summer 2016 after extensive refurbishment. The rooms are very comfortable, the staff are extremely attentive and friendly, and the food in the restaurant is superb. Douneside House...

Many thanks for taking the time to review, much appreciated and I'm delighted that you enjoyed your stay. I also have good news - the bar is set for a redesign, to be completed by end of January at which point it will definitely be back to its 'bar' status! Also, we're delighted that we shall be in possession of...

Douneside house has undergone a major refurbishment over the last 18 months but the character of this wonderful place has not only be retained but improved in every respect. If you have never visited Douneside then put it on your 'to do list'. You will not be disappointed. Family friendly, spectacular location and scenery, 5-star cuisine, pool, sauna, steam room,...

My wife enjoyed two exceptional days at Douneside House, our first visit since 2001. Warmly welcomed, the staff were friendly and attentive but not obsequious. The recent refurbishment is stylish and yet retains the 'olde world' charm of previous years. Our room was very comfortable with everything we needed. The public rooms are elegant and immaculate. We took breakfast and...

Douneside has only recently accepted guests other than the Armed Forces, and we were really pleased with our stay. Fantastic grounds and formal gardens. We had their best room - Lady MacRobert room - and it has wonderful views with a twin aspect. There is a turret with chairs, other armchairs, lovely bed and a beautifully renovated bathroom. We took...

Booked for an evening meal to celebrate anniversary. Fantastic scenary on drive along back road from Aberdeen and wonderful setting. All other diners appeared to be hotel guests but still made welcome. Currently still fixed no choice menu although offer to prepare other dishes if wished. Excellent quality of food and service.
