I arrived at the hotel at 00:00 midnight after a long drive from sheffield despite the booking.com listing stating it was a 24 hour reception yep you guessed it closed took me about an hour to get into the building and several calls to booking.com Once checked in shown to my room by an off duty member of staff this... I was booked in to this hotel by my brother and for once didn't check it out first, my first room had no lights and whilst this might have been a minor inconvenience in the summer a Scottish winters day dictates otherwise, a visit to reception where by this time payment in advance had been made produced another room designed... I could see from reading previous reviews that things had thankfully improved by the time we stayed for one night. Our booking took a bit to find ( we did book late) but after a 10 minute wait and a dash upstairs by the person on reception "to check for a room that would be suitable" for us we were... More

On arrival the receptionist let out a big sigh and welcomed us with the words "TO BE HONEST WITH YOU WE HAVE A BIG PROBLEM WITH YOUR ROOM". That was the start of the nightmare experience. He explained there was no cold water in the room, only hot, and the toilet wasn't flushing. He then insisted on showing us the... More

This bar doesn't look like much from the outside so weren't sure what to expect. We drifted into the bar on a wet and miserable day and were immediately offered seats by the fire to dry off. There was a lot of laughter and we were made very welcome. The beer was pretty good too - I could have spent... More

I had booked two visits to the Huntly Arms for business and I wish I had done a little research before. Our first visit upon arrival we were met with a ringing phone and no receptionist. My partner and I figured that they couldn't be far away so waited patiently. 5 minutes later a customer went behind the counter to... More

This hotel is a disgrace, the worst I have ever stayed in! Not a wink of sleep all week due to water pipes banging like they were getting hit with a sledge hammer, also they don't bother changing your towels or bedding all week! Spoke to foreign boy on reception about it and he laughed in my face, said he... More

The hotel has been revamped & greatly improved since my family visited last year. We came & enjoyed a great lunch all thanks to the chef Trevor & friendly staff. Best Cullen skink soup I've tasted for a long time & the size of lunch portions were huge. Can safely say we will be coming back again.

My wife and I booked this hotel months in advance for our wedding. We made sure to get everything over email so we had documented evidence of what we required (which I highly recommend if you plan to stay here). On arrival at the hotel more than half the rooms were not available, we had to go back and forth... More
