I presented a training session for a firm at the hotel and found the staff and facilities excellent; I would highly recommend the hotel to others looking for a conference location in the area. Nothing was a problem for the staff.

It's an old style place trying to modernise, the food is good, the staff are nice and friendly. There is a main restaurant and a bar that serves food and a separate bar for occasions and conferences. Overall, a good place.

Although it is not the most salubrious of establishments. The Borough Arms did suit my needs as a business traveller. Having stayed there 3 to five nights each week from September 2015 to March 2017 I am well placed to review this establishment. On a positive note the bar meals are of a good quality and are more often made...

Just thought I'd pop a quick review on here after such a good experience there last weekend. I was celebrating my 50th with a sizable party of family members, and the hotel did a cracking job. The meals were great and we were all well looked after. I even had a box of chocolates and a card from the management...

Booked the function room in the hotel for an important family event. Emma the Events Manager could not have been more helpful and interested in making sure the day went well for us and the same was true of all the hotel team. Infact it was the initial enthusiasm of the team that made us chose the hotel and we...

Booked the borough arms for a buffet for all our family and friends after my dads funeral. The service we had was excellent. The staff couldn't do enough for us. The food was very good and plenty of tea and coffee which was served by two ladies. Would certainly recommend this hotel for such events. Room was set out lovely

I stayed in this hotel for one night in midweek. The hotel was clean and I found my room very comfortable, with a large bathroom that included a bath and shower. The reception staff were all very friendly and the breakfast was excellent value. I've never been called Duck so much in my life! I'd certainly stay here again

Stayed Saturday to Monday in a single and double room. Hotel is clean and warm but is a little tired in places. Some parts have new paint and carpeting though. Enormous full English breakfast was part of the deal, we paid under £225 for both rooms B&B. Bar is well stocked & does a range of bar meals. Not a...

Original arrangements made very easy by the organisers. Well set dining room, very clean, superb food, extremely attentive staff. Have been before and will definitely come again. Lovely to walk into reception and be addressed by your Christian name.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Borough Arms Hotel and Restaurant is one of the oldest established hotels in the Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stoke-on-Trent areas, with history dating back to 1783. The hotel is very much of the style associated with a traditional English town centre coaching inn, yet has been sensitively and subtly refined to offer the comfort and modern standards demanded by today's visitors. Independently owned and managed, the hotel retains many period features and takes great pride in offering a very personal service. As a valued guest, you may be confident that we will do our utmost to ensure your comfort, whether you are staying in one of our 40 centrally heated, en-suite rooms, visiting us for a meal in the restaurant, or using our conference and banqueting facilities. ... more   less
