I'd say it has a fantastic location, just at the bottom of the river bridge. Lovely staff , especially short haired lady at breakfast (apologies for forgetting her name) . Rooms were definitely not as rated and need refurb. There are nicer hotels out of town, but we loved just walking into town of an evening for our evening meals...

We arrived at the hotel midweek and we had booked a room with 2 beds by mistake (that we didn't need) so they moved us and we were upgraded to a suite. The hotel is a great location in the heart of the city. All the staff were pleasant, informative & always happy to help, nothing was too much trouble,...

stayed here very recently, couldn't fault anything, as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for", didn't eat in the hotel apart from breakfast which was excellent, had a couple of drinks in the bar in the evening which were very good and average priced for a hotel, all the staff are very attentive and one of the ladies...

I stayed here for a couple of days. The room was clean and tidy, comfy bed and good bathroom. Hotel is an older building and a bit of a rabbit warren of corridors and lifts, so not like your typical new Marriott. Breakfast buffet style was good. I had a look at pool and spa which looked very good

Wonderful hotel, brilliant room and great service. I would highly recommend the Presidential Suite (it sleeps four, 2 in the main bedroom and 2 on bed settees in the lounge). The 2 main rooms are very huge, there's a kitchen and big bathroom. Could happily stayed in the rooms as room service is so good and not expensive. Daily breakfast...

The location of the hotel is great to be honest - right in the centre of town and the staff are very friendly. Breakfast is plentiful as well. The property and the rooms could do with a makeover though. In particular, there's no fridge in the room and no bedside lights. The headboards are also very uncomfortable - hard to...

We were booked in for one night and decided to have lunch in the bar area before going out and about as we were meeting friends. The offer was decidedly average - not much choice for vegetarians. The sandwiches were very poor and quite expensive- thin filling on thick wedges of bread. I think there was not even a tablespoonful...

We enjoyed our stay here. It is a great location for the shops, bars and restaurants. The room was really quiet so great for a good nights sleep. Good selection of breakfast items and a very happy member of staff doing a great job of keeping it stocked up.

Ellen at breakfast & Simon in the bar & restaurant go above & beyond their duty. These two people make our stay perfect every time. Well done to you both. Keep up the good work. We always stay at this hotel when visiting Durham & family

The Staff were first class, very helpful and friendly, the hotel has a great location, the room was comfortable. I was meeting my brother and sister, I had originally booked at the Travel Lodge £48 per night, but as they were staying here I booked a room which cost £108. The hotel is in an old building and the rooms...
