The recent weekend in Durham was a bit busy. We were lucky to get a room at the Kingslodge Hotel; everywhere else was full or too expensive. It turned out to an excellent circumstance. The room was comfortable and clean, the staff helpful and friendly and the breakfast hot and excellent. Next time we are in Durham, we will back....

Only stayed one night and really only slept there so can’t say a lot hence the rating = average. However, the room was clean and spacious, the staff we met were pleasant and the breakfast was good. Being an older house there were creaks and pipe clicking, the delivery van at 4.00 am was not welcome. An interesting hotel.

We had a very enjoyable bed and breakfast overnight stay. The hotel is very peaceful, beautifully clean and very convenient for Durham city centre. The restaurant looks inviting although we didn't use it this time. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

We were just passing through Durham and found the Kings Lodge through the Tourist Office brochure. Their map was not very accurate but we found the hotel and had a very spacious comfortable quiet ensuite room, with wi-fi. Annexed to the hotel is Finbarr's Restaurant which did us proud for dinner. You can just walk straight from the hotel bar...

We met up with friends as from Glasgow, we are from Sussex as our men were going to the Newcastle vs Sunderland Derby. It was in a great location, out of the town, but only 10 minutes walk away. There were 3 couples, 2 of our rooms were standard doubles, whilst they were dates in decor they were spotless. The...

Spent four nights here with friends celebrating a special birthday. The hotel setting was great, just outside the City centre but easily within walking distance. Hotel staff extremely friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble. The double room was very good, spotlessly clean and bed extremely comfortable. Bathroom very light and clean. Could not fault any of the staff. Behind...

Very poor value. Tiny room with nowhere to put lugage down. No soap in shower room and paint flaking off toilet seat. Walls very thin with noise from next door rooms. Whole place very tired and over priced.

Stayed for one night at beginning of September. Lovely receptionist, but felt the hotel was missing character. Evening meal in the bar, the restaurant having been booked by a company. Waited ages for the meal, which was fine, but too long a wait. Breakfast in morning disappointing....coffee in urn, cereal in containers, too clinical

We stayed here for a wedding, although we are from the Durham area, we don't live there any more and wanted to stay someone central and convenient (the other hotel options being quite a bit more expensive). The hotel is very close to the station, which makes it ideal if you are travelling in by train and only for a...
