Pros - Friendly, helpful staff. Fantastic view from the sea view rooms. Location is great. Cons - The hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment. It is tired and worn and can only be described as a cross between Phoenix Nights and Shameless! Tiny TV pretty pointless. Shower was no more than a dribble and toilet area smelt of pee....

Had a fantastic weekend at this hotel. Rooms could do with a refurb. But the staff at the hotel make up for that. Breakfast and evening where really nice. I will defiantly go back. Plus there is a £2 bar in evening.

Preston sands is not a five star hotel, thank goodness,it has a heart of gold and staff that care. Situated with views across Torbay this two star hotel is a little gem,the food is excellent, the whole package is first class value for money. We have stayed here several times and will continue to do so.

This hotel is in an excellent position with lovely views out over the bay. Obviously money has been spent on the dining room and lounge bar, also the staff are friendly and welcoming. There the plus comments end! Dirty tired stair carpet, filthy grime encrusted bannisters, we were shown to room 1 initially and it was horrible, cracked wash basin grim and...

We had room 7; it has a wonderful view of Torbay, that's the plus side. My mother would have said the place needed a good bottoming (cleaning), the stair rails and banisters were sticky to touch; carpets were frayed at the edges. We couldn't close the cupboard, I mean bathroom door because the threshold strip was bent and stopped the...

I have been returning to this hotel for many years and have seen a few changes in owners. It has never lost it's personal touch and that's down to all the staff who go out of their way to make your stay relaxing. To clear up a few issues mentioned in other reviews, yes, the hotel is situated by the...

Stayed here for one night as two couples. We had room 9 overlooking beach!! GREAT VIEWS! The room needs updating desperately. Pillows very flat, tiny tv in the corner (maybe thats why the binoculars were hanging by the bed??), they need to check cleanliness of rooms and check all facilities work as the shower barely let out any water! Also,...
