I travelled on my own with my dog. The staff were friendly and helpful, with nothing being too much trouble. The ensuite room was clean and comfortable. Lovely vegetarian cooked breakfast. Ideal location for train travellers and very close to both the sea and to the centre of town.

The hotel is ideal for an overnight stay. Big comfortable beds in ensuite rooms. Staff were very friendsly. The Scottish breakfast was very good however, they need to learn how to make Eggs Benedict before offering this on their breakfast menu. Brick hard muffin, strange tasting thin ham, microwaved(?) eggs and half a teaspoonful of some dreadful looking sauce was... More

We liked it very much. Near the sea and 3 min walking from the train station. The ambiance is very friendly. The owner and staff very amiable and service is very good too. Breakfast is varied and well served. The room we had was simple but clean. 😊 If you look for accommodations which at 20 min by train to... More

This is a lovely hotel for a short break. Comfortable bed in a prettily decorated room with ensuite. High standard of cleanliness . Good sized shower & nice free toiletries. Staff friendly and helpful. Delicious breakfast, good hot choice cooked to order. Would happily stay here again.

We were lucky we had the best room in the hotel, our friends not so. Rooms 9, 10 and 11 are the best. Big rooms, comfortable beds and clean. One of our friends had 16 and it was like a box and you had to back into the bathroom. Breakfast freshly cooked and plenty of it. Staff friendly and helpful.

Conveniently located with friendly and helpful staff. My rooms were clean and everything functioned. The shower was powerful. The hotel caters for a wide taste food-wise - and it's all excellent. The full Scottish breakfast is fantastic (and a considerable undertaking!), and the grilled sea-bass on roasted tomatoes with samphire and watercress was beautifully done. If you're on an early... A traditional Victorian building in the centre of this seaside town. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was an excellent example of the full Scottish offering with its remarkable array of items. Ate in the bar - excellent meal which included perhaps the ultimate fusion food, haggis pakora. This proved to be a delicious combination... More

When large houses have been converted into hotels, sometimes it does not come off; in this instance it did. We were in room 12 facing the back. I did notice the rooms facing the front were far superior, though our room was very comfortable. The dining room panelling had come off the ship 'Mauritania'. The food was excellent. In the... More
