The number of reviews that said The Birkdale was excellent is what persuaded me to book there. So few bad reviews, it couldn't be that good, could it? Well actually, if anything, they undersold it. If there's a better guest house, I'd love to see it. From a warm welcome to immaculate and sympathetically appointed rooms and en-suites to breakfast,...

We received a warm friendly welcome and a cup of coffee in the guest lounge on arrival. Followed by discount vouchers for attractions and restaurants due to a scheme the guest house belongs to. Our room was spotless, modern, silent and comfortable. The guest owners have thought about the things you need but might have forgotten such as a sewing...

We stayed at the Birkdale Jan/Feb 17. The hotel is spotless and very comfortable, and Bill and Jackie couldn't have been more welcoming. It is an ideal location, 2 mins walk from Shanklin Old Town. There is parking on the front driveway and plenty of storage in the room with a great shower. Breakfast was excellent, with a good choice...

We were made to feel very welcome by Bill and Jackie during our recent stay with them. The room and en-suite were spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean, as are all the other rooms that we saw. There was a very good choice for breakfast and Bill's cooked breakfast is highly recommended. The Birkdale is in a quiet road and...

We booked 3 nights and picked a winner with the Birkdale. Jackie and Bill were wonderful hosts and very accommodating when we unexpectedly had to make a last minute change. The accommodation is nice and contemporary and spotless, Bill's breakfast is not to be missed. The hotel is within a short stroll of a good selection of places to eat...
