I stayed at the Sugarland Hotel for a week. First things first: it is not a modern hotel, not a stylish hotel and it will not give you what you expect if you want the newest flatscreen, a marble bathroom and the lastest furniture to be in your hotel room. The rooms are aged, the TV was older than me...

Stayed at the Sugarland for the Manx. Comfy, great breakfast, very good waiting on staff, but I got the impression I was back in the early 80's. The room looked as if it had not had a makeover in 30 years. Was it a coincidence that a number of folk staying there were VMC members. Maybe they liked the decor...

I stayed here from Sunday to Thursday as we could not get in anywhere else. The hotel is very dated, the single rooms very small. The breakfast was good though and the staff were attentive and friendly. I do wish they wouldn't keep wedging the fire doors up the stairs open though! Great view of the sea front.

We enjoyed stayed at Sugarland, the room we stayed was a sea view room, the room was very spacious and the breakfast was good also. The price was reasonable and the service was good. Not forget to mention very friendly staff.

The owner is very friendly and always has time for a chat. My room looked like it was recently refurbished. Breakfast was nice and the bacon in particular was nicely done. He has a bar, or there are many other bars nearby. Reception is manned all day. Is the bed hard or soft? More the former. Rooms at the front...

I stay in hotels a lot for both work and pleasure, some very good, some not so. This place needs condemning! Breakfast was included but we just could not imagine what the kitchen was like after seeing our bedroom! So dated, dark, dismal, scruffy and smells terrible. I would not want anyone to have to stay here without me having...

I found this place exactly what you would expect for the price, its cheap and the staff can't do enough for you. Breakfast was great, I had poached eggs on toast and it was fine. As I was leaving for the 8:45 ferry and didn't have time to grab breakfast, the women said, would you like a bacon sandwhich to...

We were in Isle of Man for the TT so the Sugarland Hotel was really busy but nothing was too much trouble The owners and staff were very friendly and did everything possible to make our stay comfortable and extremely enjoyable ! Ideal location in Douglas - very close to bars, restaurants and shops. Can't wait to go back !!

This hotel in my opinion is a 0 star rating. The approach to the hotel was disappointing as there was 2 men drunk lying on the steps at 6pm. The reception looked like a back street taxi office, very untidy and not giving a very good impression as to the standard of cleanliness for the rest of the hotel which was...

“If you want to share my room-experiences by having the same room you will need to be fit to work at altitude, not claustrophobic, a good map reader, have a sense of humour, preferably not be "of a large disposition" due to the compactness of the accomodation. Ideally be a smoker, or if not, really want to start (for free), have an interest in food aroma identification and foreign swear words.”
