Steele was patient enough to put up with us city folk and show us the most amazing time whilst staying on his property on Amook Island. Logistics are well taken care of with the seaplane ride over, and Sea Hawk Air will even help you grocery shop. That seaplane ride is an adventure in itself! The cabin is pretty basic,... More

Thank you very much for your Review T. This is truly an amazing area, I am very fortunate to have been able to live and operate in this incredible spot for the past 20+ years. It is most definitely an area for the adventurers, and photographers. My beliefs are. It's your vacation/adventure you should be able to do as you... More

Our time at Spirit of Alaska Wilderness Adventures Lodge was a magical experience with purest nature at our footsteps. Steele is an amazing guide and when he took us into his ‘back yard’ we saw puffins, sea otters, nesting arctic terns, seals, whales doing their acrobatics right next to our boat and so much more! It was a memorable experience... More

Within 24 hours from our arrival at the Lodge we saw significantly more wildlife than the previous 3 weeks, including whales doing acrobatics next to our boat. Steele is a great host with an intimate knowledge of Kodiak. We enjoyed the exclusivity and the character of the cannery. Being able to cook for our self in the fully equipped kitchen... More

Spirit of Alaska Wilderness Adventures Lodge is a true wilderness experience! The rustic accommodations were perfect for the stunning setting and our time there could not have been better! Steele, the owner and guide, maintains a great wilderness property that is completely off the grid. No phone, no wireless internet, no tv, just a beautiful, relaxing and active experience! The... Spirit of Alaska far exceeded our expectations thanks to owner Steele Davis, his able staff and the environment surrounding the restored lodge at The Cannery on Uyak Bay. In the space of 5 days, we viewed fin and humpback whales, Steller's sea lions, harbor seals, many sea otters, puffins, kittiwakes, nesting arctic terns and many others too numerous to mention.... First off, Steele is an incredible host and guide...the MacGyver of Kodiak! He guides and maintains the property nearly singlehandedly, which is no small feat. This place is truly off-the grid in the wilderness but still has running water, electricity, and indoor plumbing. I'd recommend it to anyone! “This is not a hotel experience, if you are looking for a luxury lodge then this place is not for you. If you are looking for a unique, off the grid wilderness experience then Spirit of Alaska is it! You stay in a refurbished bunk house that was once part of the old cannery. It has 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, a full kitchen and a living room with an amazing view. The old bunk house has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. You bring the food and beverage, it can be as good as you make it. The living room truly has one of the best views anywhere!”
