GreenLeaders Bronze level
The Duke of Gordon Hotel is situated in the Town of Kingussie in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park. The hotel was originally a Coaching Inn built in the mid 19th century as a horse changing stop for coaches traveling between Perth and Inverness. The hotel was extended several times during the 20th century to the building you see today. The hotel is a traditional style Highland Hotel offering the comfort of a country house but with modern amenities. The hotel was used as a filming location for the BBC Series 'Monarch of the Glen' from 2000 to 2005. The Clan Macpherson Gathering has been held at the Duke of Gordon every August since 1938. The hotel is a popular wedding venue and many family events have taken place in the Ballroom. All guest rooms are ensuite with flat screen Televisions, Direct Dial Telephone, Hospitality Tray and WiFi throughout the building. Ceud mìle fàilte (a hundred thousand welcomes)

Well what can I say, drastic shortage of staff, no dancing... We all had a great time, good food, friendly, piped into meals, few staff couldn't do enough and were a big part in making to visit great.

We went for New Year on a coach tour with Cairngorm. There were 14 of us. The room was excellent upgraded many. Food excellent and staff very friendly. Although COVID REATRICTIONS ON was very organised , table service only. MO the barman was so lovely even when he was working solo last night he ran three bars cannot thank him enough. We have booked again for New Year 2022. Beautiful hotel

I have done a lot of coach holidays but this was my first with Cairngorm Travel and it certainly didn't disappoint, picked up on time at Penrith by an excellent coach and driver. Despite the previous revue we were very happy with our stay. Whilst the hotel was short staffed, they all worked hard and aimed to please especially Mo. Would certainly return to the Duke of Gordon Hotel.

Just returned from a 5 day Xmas break with Cairngorm travel Hotel is situated in a beautiful area of Speyside so fantastic location This was my third visit and overall whilst I had a good stay the hotel is not as good as it was a few years ago My room was comfortable but in desperate need of an update ,old carpet ,dirty ,black grouting around bathroom tiles ,looking very dated The biggest sho k was the poorly cooked food , Xmas day lunch was terrible soggy sprouts, burnt roast potatoes , and insipid yukey which was tasteless The food at the Duke used to be excellent ,not anymore . Buffet was poor ,cheap shop bought pork pies ,sandwiches and black burnt chicken drumsticks . Whoever the chef was he needed replacing asap ,infact it was doubtful if there was a chef on Xmas day as the food looked like it was heated up leftovers The bar ran out of Bailey's so couldn't have my favourite tipple Due to Covid there was a lack of staff so service at times was poor . Overall a very average time and enough to decide not to return .
