Hotel was booked for us as part of a diving trip.
As they had only recently opened up following the relaxing of lock down we did wonder what it would be like.
We were warmly welcomed by Donna who owns the business.
Because of lockdown and no guests they have taken the time to refurbish a lot of the property and it shows.
We were given our keys and went to the rooms. All were clean well furnished and well appointed.
They have an honest bar which was well stocked with a variety of beverages and snacks.
Breakfast the next day was fantastic and cooked by Phil, Donnas husband. Portions were good and tasty. They source their products from local suppliers and it shows.
Donna and Phil are brilliant hosts and go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable.
Even though the hotel is 7 minutes drive away from the harbour it really is worth the walk or drive. Ample parking available and because it’s off the main road we felt that our cars and diving equipment was very safe.
Although we didn’t have any pets it was very clear that Donna and Phil love to have canine guests along with their humans.
Room rates were very reasonable and we will definitely be going back. Even though I didn’t get my poached egg. Lol.

This hotel is absolutely charming. It’s very pretty, secluded and peaceful with lovely views from the patio. The room we had was clean & comfortable. We had room 3 which has a separate, lockable toilet/bathroom just down the hall so the bathrobes provided by the hotel were a really nice addition. The room did have a small vanity unit so you could brush teeth etc in the room. The decor was nice, a lot of thought has gone into the details, fresh but not so modern it takes away from the age of the building. The rooms all appeared to be upstairs and there is no lift so that is something to consider when booking. The lounge is comfortable and the honesty bar there, with ice machine and board games, is a great idea. The grounds are very pretty and have a real “secret garden” vibe, which I loved. Breakfast was hearty, well- prepared and nice quality. Our hosts, Donna & Paul, were helpful, obliging and genuinely nice people. They made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. They clearly take pride in their hotel, and rightly so, it was a beautiful place to use as a base for our seal diving expedition in Ilfracombe.

Beautifully decorated place with spacious rooms tastefully designed. Real eye for detail. Breakfasts were fabulous and the idea of an honesty bar brilliant if you wanted it. Donna was very helpful and made sure of all the touches like milk in the room in little bottles. Shame we didn't see Paul. Bathroom luxurious. Only snag was we were a little chilly as the sun doesn't warm the room up.

I stayed here for a night last summer either side of a trip to Lundy. They offer parking for visitors to the island for a small and very reasonable fee which is a lot more secure than public car parks and a fraction of the cost. The house is a little outside the town, just about within walking distance perhaps but only a five minute drive away, not far from Mullacott Farm. My room which overlooked the garden was clean and comfortable with everything I needed overlooking the beautiful garden. Breakfast was more than adequate with plenty of gluten free bread and piping hot coffee and the owners very accomodating and helpful. I would probably stay here again next time I visit the island.

Vey impressed, this is more a bijou hotel than a guest house, the setting is wonderful in a small valley. Our room had recently been redecorated including fresh carpets, clean and smart, the en-suite bathroom had a modern and effective shower, beds were comfortable.
Donna gave a great welcome and provided a first class full English breakfast earlier than usual as we had to make the Lundy Ferry, we were allowed to leave the car in their car park while we spent a few days on Lundy. When we realised how late our return would be we were able to book another nights stay at less than a days notice.
This is a great to place if you are doing the Lundy trip as there is a bus stop only a few minutes walk away and leaving the car at Score valley as opposed to a public car park in town a bonus.
Would highly recommend, its by far the best B&B we have stayed in for a long time.

We were delighted to stay here for 3 nights for a family wedding. Donna and Paul have created a welcoming place for your stay Monty our cocker spaniel loved the grounds and our room was very comfortable. Enjoyed the walk in shower in the bathroom. It is just nicely out of town to be in a quiet country location but only takes a few minutes to get into town in the car. Breakfasts were scrumtious, excellent ingredients cooked well and we loved the heart ballon put on our table for our wedding anniversary.
I would recommend this property to anyone regardless of whether they have a dog

This place is a definite must for either couples or family's, dog owners or not. We stayed for 1 night but wished we had time to stay longer. A gorgeous place to stay with lush cared for grounds and very lovely pretty rooms. Hosts couldn't do enough to make the guests happy, it's the little touches that meant the most to each room and at breakfast too. By the way, also the best breakfast we have had and I have been staying in the Woolacombe/Ilfracombe area for years! Ideally positioned for a relaxing break but also only a short walk down quiet country lanes into Ilfracombe for a night out too. Wish we had taken a photo with all the roses out in bloom at the front of the property, so pretty. We will be back Donna & Paul!

Located away from the hustle and bustle of the busy Ilfracombe resort, this lovely bed and breakfast is situated amongst beautiful countryside scenes. Rooms were very clean comfortable and fully equipped with hairdryer, usb plugs etc. The breakfast was plentiful. It felt like a home from home atmosphere with very friendly owners, a comfy lounge with a honesty bar. Thank you Donna and Paul for a wonderful overnight stay . You are definitely on our list to return.
Best wishes from Ray, Sue, Shane and Lynn.

I would recommend anyone wanting peace and tranquility to stay here. The hard work Donna and Paul have put in to make this place amazing is noticeable everywhere from the gardens to the rooms. The room we stayed in was spotlessly clean with such a comfortable bed it made getting up difficult. The breakfasts are superb and definitely set you up for the day. We can't wait to come back and enjoy this little bit of heaven in Devon again.

Clean, comfy beds, good quality tea bags in rooms, instant coffee rather than coffee bags. Bathrooms come with toiletries which is helpful.

Breakfast - quality of sausages and bacon good, tomatoes well cooked so almost stewed and flavorful. Appreciated the quaint decor - ducks in entry hall, rabbits in dining hall, certain themes in each room - we had a stag theme, others had plant theme. Welcome from Dawn was warm and Paul was a friendly presence. Lounge with well stocked honesty bar. Charming touches throughout.

Just beware of the sharp turn onto the main road. Some care needed in driving.
