We thought the breakfast was the best we've ever had in the UK. The towels provided are the biggest we've ever had in the UK. It is the only hotel we've stayed at, that has an electric car charging point. The owner c,early loves dogs as much as people and fed ours with at least one sausage!
Room 4 was a bad choice with a dog as there was insufficient floor space for her bed but there was no charge for the dog. The room was too hot upon entry. Neither were the curtains drawn, nor was the window open, but once a couple of buttons were pressed, the window let in enough air for the table top air conditioner to bring the room temperature down. However, at night, we ended up removing the winter duvet from its cover in order to sleep on the very comfy bed! The hotel is centrally located, but the area is so built up, that there was nowhere for the dog to go to the toilet before her sumptuous breakfast, nor before crawling into her rather scrunched up bed!

We stayed here for two nights after storm Eunice left our home with no power. So pleased we did. It is in a quiet location, has a car park and is conveniently located near Ilfracombe centre. We arrived late in the evening and were greeted by Lynne, who checked us in and gave us our breakfast tick list for the following morning, what an efficient system.

The whole hotel was clean and looked recently decorated. Our double room had eveything we needed, including tea making facilities, large tv and hairdryer. The furniture was modern with plenty of storage. The en-suite shower room looked brand new and performed as such with plenty of hot water! All made for a very comfortable night.

Next morning our cereals and juice were ready on our table followed by our previously selected tea, toast and cooked items, all delicious. We found our stay to be very comfortable and our host to be both hard working and helpful. Great value too. Thanks for being a ray of light during a very gloomy time!

Lovely stay. Stayed in room 9 (double bed, single bed and bunk beds) which was clean and spacious, well stocked with lovely fluffy towels (changed on request as due to Covid no housekeeping service but anything needed was provided). Fabulous breakfast, lots of choice from fruit salad and porridge to a plentiful cooked breakfast. Lynne was extremely welcoming. Hotel in a great location, 5-10 mins walk from town centre and supermarket nearby. Hotel is dog friendly and although there were a few dogs staying during our visit there was no noise heard. Definitely hope to return soon.

Lynne was an excellent host, very welcoming. The hotel is only a 5 minute walk from town, a really great location. The rooms were spotless (though a slight smell of cigarettes in the foyer). Breakfast was fantastic! And very well organised (social distancing in place). I have Coeliac disease and was offered a full range of breakfasts, including gluten free sausages and bread! I can highly recommend this hotel. Thank you!

Dog hairs on carpet in bedroom - room smelt of dogs. Awful bed. Awful decor. No breakfast, as it only started at 0830 - no other provision for someone needing brekkies earlier. Would I stay here again? No!

Lovely hospitality from Lynne and Laura. Lynee was really personal with my son and wanted to know all about our religion and culture. It was welcoming and friendly. The room had everything we needed. I loved how thorough Lynne was with our requirements for our breakfast. I loved more of how Sherborne Lodge sent me an email asking for our dietry requirements. Catered very well for vegetarians.

This was a great find, the place is clean, tidy and nicely decorated with a recent and superbly fitted shower room in the room I had. The room itself had everything you’d expect for a B&B… decent TV with freeview channels, tea and coffee, comfy bed with nice linen etc. Lynne was so friendly, full of fun and chat without being intrusive. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was simply excellent and there was a lovely honesty bar too, complete with piano and TV if you want it. Absolutely faultless and will definitely stay again.

Liked · I thought that the location was great, easy access to where we needed to be, and easy parking

Disliked · The Staff, this in all honesty changed the mood for our entire stay. Upon arrival, myself and my 22 week pregnant wife turned up, only to be greeted by a lady who when I said my name, responded with "did you bring your fat wife with you", bare in mind, my wife was stood next to me, and is in that very self conscious stage of pregnancy where the bump isn't actually a bump, and she does get upset she sometimes looks bloated. baffled we both looked at the lady behind the reception and asked her to repeat herself, to which she again said "you and your fat wife", in shock we didn't know what to say, and after an awkward silence the lady said "I was only joking because she is pregnant", well that set the tone for the entire stay, my wife didn't want to leave the room without me incase she bumped into this lady, and we decided against breakfast, again to avoid running into her.

As per another review on here, I experienced a domestic incident on one of the nights I stayed (shouting, swearing, banging doors). This was quite scary as I was staying on my own. I found the room quite run down and didn't get the chance to have breakfast as they only served from 8.30am. Positives are that the host was very friendly and the towels and bed were new and clean but I'm afraid I won't be staying again.
