We booked a three night stay at The Collingdale on the strength of the Trip Advisor reviews and can see why it enjoys its high rating. Prior to our trip Sharon was always quick to respond to email questions and specific dietary requests, she also gave us some excellent restaurant recommendations.

Sharon and Daryl have created a special experience at The Collingdale and we’d have no hesitation in recommending it and will definitely stay again. It is spotlessly clean and tidy and their COVID policies will give confidence to anyone concerned about the virus.

We’d booked a room with a sea view and what a view it was as Storm Francis kicked up the waves outside the harbour entrance. The room itself was up a few flights of stairs which could be a challenge for some so perhaps ask for something on a lower floor. Some of the room’s soft furnishings have been removed as a consequence of COVID cleaning but it didn’t detract from what we needed. The room wasn’t huge but that’s more than offset by the public areas of the guest house including a comfortable lounge overlooking harbour and a cosy, well-stocked bar room with an honesty book policy.

The Collingdale offers an award-winning breakfast using local produce and it’s an award that’s well-deserved with quality and quantity guaranteed to set one up for an energetic day of walking around either the town or the SW Coast Path which is nearby. It’s situated just a five minute walk from the harbour.

Free parking is available on the road outside if you can find an empty space, or the car can be left for a small daily fee in either the long stay car park or in the parking of another nearby guest house.

We left feeling very relaxed and refreshed thanks to the efforts of Sharon and Daryl who go the extra mile to look after their guests and we look forward to visiting again as part of a Lundy Island trip.

We had a lovely 4 night stay at the Collingdale Guesthouse. We stayed in Room 6 which had a wonderful view of the harbour and the sea on one side and lovely views of rolling hills the other. Very idylic for a nice relaxing stay away before our baby arrives in January! All rooms were spotless and we felt very comfortable in the current situation with hand sanitiser provided in communal areas and face visors worn by staff and other guests. Staff all very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Sharon is also very knowledgable of the local and surrounding areas which is very useful! Breakfast was perfection and a good size too! The guesthouse is in a very good location, only a short walk to the harbour or the main restaurants/pubs. All in all a very pleasant stay and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it!

We booked The Collingdale as a Birthday treat, we stayed 3 nights (Mon-Thurs) Our room (No 2) had a balcony overlooking Ilfracombe Harbour and on a clear day views of the Welsh coast. The property was in easy distance of the town and other attractions. The room was a good size with king size bed and en-suite shower room. Breakfast was an excellent faire, with fruits, Yoghourt, cereals, full cooked breakfast, also haddock and kippers, were available. The lounge has a small, honesty bar for drinks. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Cleanliness and sanitisation stations were excellent, we would reccomend this property to anyone wanting a few quiet days away in a lovely setting

We appreciate you taking the time to tell other potential guests about your experience at The Collingdale. We always try our best to provide particular items that a guest may require, be it decaf or herbal teas in the room or gluten or dairy free items and a good selection of vegetarian options at breakfast, so it is nice to know that they are appreciated.

Such a lovely guest house, we where welcomed in such a happy manner and our bags taken to our room.
The sleep was great, very comfortable bed and large room. Breakfast was very well cooked and the whole building was very clean top to bottom. I’d gladly stay here again.
There is a path to take you directly into the harbour that will take 5-10 mins if not less. There’s is parking out side but if not spaces available then there is a long stay car park at the back which only cost £4.40 for 24hrs.

So glad we decided to stay for 5 days at The Collingdale Guest House after our original booking was cancelled due to the owners re-locating. Sharon and Daryl were the perfect welcoming hosts and made our stay extra special. Our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean with a great view looking towards Verity and the harbour. There was a fantastic choice for breakfast which was freshly cooked to order - yes, it fully deserves it's recent award! We appreciated the use of the lovely spacious lounge and if you want a drink they provide an honesty bar facility. Sharon and Daryl are experienced, professional guest house owners and there is great attention to detail throughout the establishment with some nice touches such as bottled water being provided daily. In fact nothing is too much trouble, you only had to ask. We really did feel 'home from home' which is exactly what you would want.

Ilfracombe is a great base to explore North Devon and has some good restaurants that Sharon and Daryl were able to recommend. It's also a great location for nearby coastal walks, and with the guest house being literally on the South West Coastal Path, you don't necessarily need a car. Our favourite walk direct from The Collingdale was east to Combe Martin which gives some fabulous views along its 5 mile route. The surfing beaches of Croyde Bay and Woolacombe are a short distance away and you can visit picturesque Appledore and Lynton (Valley of the Rocks), again reachable by public transport.

In summary, we had a wonderful stay in Ilfracombe with the added bonus of being able to enjoy warm, fine weather throughout. We would certainly return here and would have no hesitation in recommending The Collingdale Guest House as a place to stay where you will be really well looked after

All the staff at the Collingdale Guest House in Ilfrcombe, North Devon, were very welcoming and pleasant.

Covid restrictions made some places in town un accessible but the amazing breakfast really helped. It was probably one of the best full English breakfasts we have been offered.

Our room was spotless and comfortable, with a delightful balcony enabling us to enjoy the amazing views of the harbour.

Very clean and homely guesthouse Sharon and staff greet you with smile and welcoming disposition. The Collingdale has great views comfortable clean rooms. Breakfast is amazing and plentiful. 5 min walk from the Verity statue and harbour parking if you are lucky you will find it on the main road or there is parking for under ÂŁ5 just near the harbour. Really felt looked after by Sharon and staff book early to get room with sea view.

Sharon and Daryl are delightful hosts and it was a pleasure being welcomed as one of their first post lock down guests. Every care is taken to ensure there is a Covid safe environment.
The rooms are beautifully presented, I had room 1, with woodland views, which was not an issue as there is a big lounge with sea views and an honesty bar.
The breakfasts are fantastic and I thoroughly recommend the smoked Haddock and poached eggs. There are plenty of options for those who enjoy a bigger breakfast.
The hotel is a 10 minute walk don the hill into the harbour and I recommend you pre book parking in a nearby private car park at ÂŁ5 a night as parking outside the guests house is a bit hit and miss and to have the freedom to come and go as you wish is a bonus.
Overall a fantastic visit to a lovely welcoming guest house, I will certainly be going again. Thanks Sharon and Daryl.
