My wife and I had a great 4 night stay here. Paula and Adam are amazing hosts, so helpful and friendly nothing was too much trouble and they make you feel so welcome. Their knowledge of the local area is good always available to give advice about the surrounding area and what to do.

Breakfast was delicious, plenty of choice and lots of it, even supplied an extra item of baked beans, which was noticed by other guests who then also requested with their breakfast.

Rooms very clean, shower gel and hand wash provided, plenty of biscuits, tea, fresh water etc replenished each day. We were in room 5, which had large king size bed, with an adjacent sitting area with a sea view.

About a 15 min walk downhill to the town and harbour, therefore that means a uphill trek back.

Very compliant with COVID regulations. Definitely recommend

We have just come back from having three lovely nights staying with Adam and Paula at Norbury House.
They really care about their guests and you could see them working hard to make sure everybody felt safe, ensuring Covid practices are in place but still maintaining a warm and friendly environment to make your stay special.
Our room was very comfortable, with a great shower and lovely soft bedding to ensure a restful nights sleep. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice using local produce, the sausages were very good indeed! Paula and Adam are great hosts and it’s clear that they are very passionate about hospitality and delivering an excellent experience to all their guests. Good luck for the rest of the season.

We stayed 3 nights in Ilfracombe and enjoyed every moment. The room was nicely decorated, clean and had everything that we needed, including an amazing view over the coast. Our only suggestion to others is to be aware that not all of the bathrooms have been updated like the ones on the pictures on booking.com. The owners were very welcoming and made us feel at home - full of tips about the local area to make our stay even better. The breakfast was outstanding and catered for all of our preferences. The parking is tricky as it is on top of a steep hill however we chose to park on the road outside without any problems. The location is brilliant a 20 minute walk into the town, as well as, 15 minutes from Woolacombe beach and Combe Martin water sports.

Having read the web site for the Norbury we were really expecting something a little more. We stayed at the property for 3 nights. We were made to feel very welcome and were quite happy with breakfast, however the room we stayed in (Room 3) was disappointing. This is a small room. A wardrobe to hang clothes would have been very welcome but the size of the room could not accommodate one and you have to make do with coat hooks. The bathroom was small, shower cubicle very tight and the toilet difficult to flush. We felt that the whole room and bathroom was feeling tired and in need of a facelift if it is to meet the expectations as promoted on the web site.
The surrounding area is beautiful and we enjoyed a lovely walk along the costal path to Woolacombe. This is not a bad place at all but please don't expect anything special.

We stayed here for 2 nights this weekend as we had a wedding at Sandy Cove Hotel a short drive away. As soon as we arrived Paula made us feel so welcome, it immediately felt like a home away from home. We stayed in room #8 which was simply beautiful, the bed was massive, room very clean and fresh and fully stocked with tea, coffee, biscuits and a kettle. Each room has a small ironing board/iron and hairdryer. Breakfast the following morning is equally as good, a cooked breakfast and fresh tea, coffee and juice as well as toast stacks and all the trimmings included in the booking price. Adam wasn’t there when we checked in however he made the effort to introduce himself the following morning and he is just as lovely as Paula. They make an excellent team and they also genuinely really do care about your stay and what you’re up to. I will absolutely be returning for a weekend away… or hopefully longer next time! I didn’t want to come home, thanks for a wonderful stay.

We stayed here for 3 nights and used it mainly as a base for woolacombe. The location was good for both this and Ilfracombe itself which is a 15 minute walk down the hill. It is also really close to the start of the cliff walk to Lee Bay and Mortehoe too which was handy and is a gorgeous walk.
We really enjoyed our stay and found the hosts really helpful in recommending things to go and places to eat - although NB in the current situation the local restaurants are all booked up well in advance so you really do need to book before you get there.
The breakfast was gorgeous, the decor fab and the whole place was clean and had good covid management plans in place.
Can thoroughly recommend x

We have stayed many times now and everything is just as perfect as it was on the first visit. You feel instantly relaxed when you arrive, and Adam and Paula put you at ease. They supply plenty of suggestions about what to do locally in all weather conditions and eating out.
During these strange times we felt very safe with the Covid measures, which didn't feel instrusive enough to lessen the experience.

We stayed at Norbury House for 4 nights in July 2021. We had the family room (no. 2) for my wife, 2 boys (aged 12 and 9) and I. The hotel and rooms are decorated beautifully in a modern style with a few subtle nods to Art Deco.
The property is located approx 10 mins walk from Ilfracombe and was a great base for north Devon.
The family room was spacious and the boys were delighted to find a PlayStation stocked with games in the room! There was plenty of room for all 4 of us and our luggage - and we never pack lightly!
The breakfasts were delicious and Adam was an exceptional host throughout. Making us feel extremely welcome, comfortable and offering us lots of advice about the local area.
We’d love to come back another time

Stayed with my boyfriend and our 9 month old baby for 3 nights and cannot recommend more. The owners Paula and Adam are by far the best hosts we have ever come across. They are so laid back, welcoming and accommodating. Nothing was ever too much trouble. We had the family room which was perfect as we had so much space for everything you need to take with you having a baby! The room was so clean and tidy, the entire suite looked brand new. The guest house as a whole has a lovely homely feel about it. The breakfast was the best breakfast we have had during a stay away and is all cooked by Paula and served by Adam. We looked forward to breakfast every day. Thank you to Paula for serving our baby his first ever taste of sausage - he loved it! We honestly wish Paula and Adam could host every hotel we visit as we know we would be guaranteed a brilliant stay every time! This was our first family holiday with our baby and was a last minute booked due to covid stopping out foreign holiday plans but we have enjoyed our time so much, Paula and Adam really made it special just by being themselves and we will always remember this special first holiday as a new family. Thank you SO much! From Gary, Emily & Baby A xxx

Covid - would recommend booking restaurants in advance In plenty of time as the area is busier than normal due to foreign travel restrictions and everyone holidaying in the UK. Lots of disappointed people around Ilfracombe and Woolacombe being turned away from restaurants with no spaces. This suited us fine as we had take away pizza on the beach one night, fish and chips at the harbour another night and found a restaurant for the remaining night but if you want to eat out make sure you book them when you book your accommodation!

We have visited Norbury house twice. Once as a couple just after our wedding when we chose a long weekend to relax after the craziness of our nuptials, in 2021, and again last week. It has been excellent both as an experience for a couple and this time with our toddler son. The owners are so friendly and put you at ease, and our little one. The location is fab, right by the town. Breakfast is beautifully done. They made the effort to talk to my little one and give him a toy, helped him feel relaxed in a strange environment. As for the rooms they are very comfortable, clean and beautifully presented and we were really pleased with the larger family room we had this time which had room for my son to run about with a partition in between so when he went to bed we could still watch tv. Absolute gem. See you again!
