Right next to the castle, with stunning views of both the castle and the Wallace monument, you'd find it difficult to find a better place to stay in Stirling. The staff and owners were brilliant - couldn't have been lovelier or more attentive. We had a drink in the bar - it was full of locals and tourists eating and...

Visited here with my family. Very warm welcome by the staff, and the toasty fire. Good as the day was cold. Service was fast and friendly. I only had Coffee while the family had food. The menu was varied with the usual suspects. The food looked good, everyone had something different, all the plates were cleared, and the portions had...

We've just returned home after 5 weeks of traveling the uk and Europe with our two small daughters and this was by far the best place we stayed! Amazing atmosphere, lovely staff, the owner couldn't have been kinder (went out of her way to make my 4 year old happy at breakfast), great pub, fantastic location (literally next door to...

My husband and I took my daughter and her partner for an evening meal on Saturday, the staff were very friendly, food was delicious and portions were very good. The resturant was warm cosy and very comfortable. We would definately recommend this to both local people and tourists.

Visited The Portcullis for a Sat night meal whilst staying at The Golden Lion for an overnighter break. I phoned a week earlier to book a table and asked (with hope) that it could be beside the fire. Arrived at 7pm and was delighted to be seated as requested (thank you). I ordered a bottle of rose and Peroni for...

My husband and I stopped in on the way upto the castle. Just looking for a sandwich. Lovely and cosy inside. We were offered a little table by the burning fire. We could see it was a popular little place with most tables already reserved and the place soon filled up. The menu was a fine size with plenty to...

We decided to visit last Saturday night as we were visiting the neighbouring brewdog. Upon arrival we were promptly shown to our seat(right next to the fabulous open fire) and asked what to drink. We both ordered sirloin steaks which were delicious!! No fat or gristle. We weren't rushed upon finishing allowing us to enjoy out surroundings as the snow...

had long wanted to visit tis restaurant and with family of 5 we visited here at lunch time last December. Could not see a table that would seat all of us so asked the waitress if there were perhaps any other areas or possibilities to accommodate us. The scathing look she gave us as well as the " does it...

Had a lovely meal here after our wedding for 13 of us. Great choice of menu, big portions and friendly service. The steaks are amazing! Big open fire in the lounge which has an old fashioned atmosphere and is really nice. We stayed overnight and the room was first class, comfy bed and amazing view of the castle from our...

We stopped off here today and had some lunch. Nicely set next to Stirling castle the old traditional building and coal fire was nice. We received our meals which was simply brilliant, large portions and traditional home made food. Great value for money. I would recommend to anyone. The only negative point was the building was very cold and draughty.
