We had a most relaxing one night weekend break in Pickering at this beautiful traditional hotel. We were given such a warm welcome by the Receptionist which set the tone for the rest of our all too brief stay. The Superior room on first floor was bright, clean, spacious and airy with lovely view over the garden at the back. It was a comfortable temperature & the bed was massive so we had a blissfully quiet & sound night’s sleep. The food was excellent. We had drinks & pot of tea in the afternoon in the brasserie bar served by a lovely friendly, helpful man who was also our server at dinner later. There was a good choice on the menu. The green vegetable red curry was amazing & the Irish coffees rounded off the meal perfectly. Breakfast which was included was good value with choice of Continental or cooked. Full Yorkshire was spot on. The breakfast waitress was also so helpful & friendly. Overall, a lovely hotel. Good value and the staff really make it special. We’d go back.

I stayed at Forest and Vale hotel in Pickering with my Husband, Brother and Sister in law for 3 nights over the New year .From the moment we entered the Hotel the staff were friendly, curious and helpful.Harry from the Bar was great, nothing too much trouble even when we were very late leaving the bar each night.Staff from restaurant were very helpful and nothing was a bother, they were cheerful and curious.Lisa ensured new year went well joining in with dancing and singing and ensuring we all had a great time.food was lovely and the 3 course new years meal was delicious in a beautifully decorated room .Reception staff were helpful and curious and always smiling and chatty with guests. A great 3 day break over the new year and I can understand why so many people who checked out on sunday immediatley booked for next new year.Thank you to all the staff at Forest and Vale for a memorable new year

I stayed here recently for a few days. I chose Pickering as it was ideal for exploring around the Moors and NE Coast. The hotel is easy to find at the top of the High street and next to the roundabout which peels off to all the major towns around Pickering. York, Whitby and Scarborough are all about 20 mins from the hotel. The staff here were all so helpful and friendly, the hotel also had a large car park right outside the rear of the hotel. My room was cosy and quiet, and I could easily nip in/out via the back door access of the hotel through the gardens. It was so useful. The best thing about the hotel was the food, breakfasts were a decent choice of hot foods served to order. The evening meals were also really good standard and not very expensive. I enjoyed my break and staying here, I'd certainly stop here again if I am in the area.

Room Tip: I'd probably ask for an upstairs room, as I could hear people in the room above mine at times.
