enjoyed a lovely 4 night stay at the Old Manse, room was great looking out over a pleasant garden which was ideal as we had our small dog with us. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. Valerie is a brilliant hostess and a great cook!! Enjoyed our stay so much we booked to return for the next bank holiday.

The service was 5 star, the young lady who checked us in during torrential rain went above and beyond. The room was extremely comfortable and the location excellent. The only thing that I would single out is the breakfast, the quality of the ingredients made it spectacular. I would like to thank the Old Manse for an excellent stay.

Room Tip: We had the garden room and in the summer this would be fantastic, with great access to outside.

Wonderful room, lovely hostess and breakfast that could not be beaten anywhere. We loved the stay, a short walk to the High Street and plenty of free parking space. We will return whenever we plan another trip to Pickering and the surrounding area.

Lovely, comfortable, spacious room, bigger-than-kingsized bed, a decent size telly, and clean modern bathroom. Lovely friendly lady met me at the door (btw easy parking for about 10 cars on the property). I was the only one in that night so preordered cooked breakfast (this suits me because i don't like wasted food). Breakfast was lovely, overlooking the garden. There are a couple of dogs at the property but they are not interested at all in guests! My only annoyance (and its petty really) was that the kettle is very difficult to get under the bathroom tap to fill. I would love to stay here again.

This place reminded me of an old people’s home . Faded old fissioned furniture . Pillows were hard and rooms stuffy . We booked and paid for 2 nights but came away after one Shower in the second room we were offered was rusty and kept going hot and cold . Breakfast was average to poor . Bacon tough and sausage full of fat ! Poached eggs ok and coffee but that is all . The only highlight of our trip was a visit to NYMR Which was delightful . Could not wait to return home to my beautifully appointed 4 Bedroomed house !!

This venue is charming and cosy, like Pickering itself. We were made very welcome, with a tea tray on arrival, an extra to the complimentary tray already in the room. Staff were friendly and helpful and the evening meal we had booked for one day was excellent, as were the breakfasts which had a good range of choices and generous "Yorkshire" portions . Location is good, easy walking distance to the town centre and attractions, including the steam railway, but also quiet at night. There is a pleasant garden area, and ample parking.

Came here for first time in March Had a great experience so didn’t hesitate to book here again for a return visit in June. Valerie and her team can’t do enough for you. The breakfast is plentiful and of a high quality. Nice room and comfy bed. Plenty of safe parking. 5 minute walk into Pickering centre for lots of great dining venues I don’t normally write reviews but felt I had to spread the word for people to consider this as their first choice when looking for a place to stay

We stayed in 2 two double rooms at the hotel for 2 nights. This review is for room 9. The Old Manse is well located. 10 minutes walk from the Coastliner Bus and 5 minutes walk from the steam railway, shops and restaurants.(slightly uphill on the way back) The room was spacious and very comfortable. There was a kettle, tea, coffee and some chocolate snacks. A selection of toiletries in the bathroom. The rooms are quite close together and you can hear some noise from talking and people coming and going. The quality of the breakfast was very good. The warm, friendly courteous nature of all the staff at the hotel made our stay very enjoyable. Valerie was kind enough to contact us and post back a jumper which was left in a room. I would stay at The Old Manse again.
