I like to take my family to a special place once a year. We have been to many Michelin star restaurants over the years but Farlam hall, though not starred, was supreme. The Quinion family looked after us so well we thought we were part of it. They made our youngsters very welcome, they are 5 and 9 years old,...

My wife and I stayed here during our Hadrian' Wall walk. We were warmly welcomed and were given excellent personal care during our stay. The staff went "the second mile" for us on several occasions. The facilities are first class. Breakfasts and dinners were great. My only suggestion would be to upgrade the internet just a bit if possible

In this age of stripped-down minimalism, muted Farrow & Ball colours, wooden floors and blond furniture, it’s quite a shock to step back to the late 1970s and into Farlam Hall’s lounges where the wallpaper, carpets and nick-knacks scream at each other loudly enough to induce a migraine. Farlam Hall is a survivor and, let’s face it, a time capsule...

This was one of the high points of a trip full of high points. We arrived from abroad and negotiated other-side driving on motorways full of traffic and finally arrived to be greeted so warmly and immediately sent tea up to us. We had a beautiful room, looking out on lawns with a farm in the distance. The staff felt...

We hadn't intended to stay here, but because we'd escaped from the Gilsland Hell Hotel, we rang around in desperation for somewhere to stay the same night. Luckily, there was a room available here. The lady who answered gave us a good rate and sympathised with our plight, and reassured us that we would be all right at Farlam Hall....

We visited Farlam for the first time for five days and cannot wait to return. The staff/proprietors make you feel as an honored guest in their home. Chef Barry and managers Lynn and Helen are experts in hospitality. The stay was great for unwinding and touring Hadrian's Wall. The food from starters to sweets were deliciously and creatively prepared.

We loved our stay here. The owners (family owned & run) were very welcoming and took very good care of us. The chef made special meals for my husband (vegan/no oil) who is very difficult to cook for. The room was extremely nice with a modern bathroom. We really loved the decor of all the public rooms as well. They...

Lynn and Barry run a superb ship, nothing is too much for them or their delightful staff. Highly recommend both the Hall and also the restaurant and indeed their wine list. Beautiful area near Hadrian's Wall...gorgeous gardens...excellent base for walking.

We've been to Farlam Hall a couple of times now, for afternoon tea. It's a beautiful building in a superb setting. Without fail, the welcome is warm and hospitable. And the afternoon tea is outstanding: plentiful, good quality, tasty & homemade. We love the food, the scenery & the hall. It's reasonably priced and it makes a great special occasion...
