We counted 87 ladybirds in our room that were alive and flying around. They kept awake by fluttering around our heads. They were in our clothes. We tried to kill as many as possible but lost the will to live. There are a huge amount of dead ones on the carpet too. The hotel really do need to sort this...

I booked a double room with my son and we were not disappointed. The hotel looks fantastic and has plenty of original features inside. The room was spacious with a TV, hot drink facilities, large hair dryer and an extremely comfortable bed with an array of pillows and cushions. The bathroom was very large, beautifully decorated and had a wonderful power...

A different place to the usual hotel, built as a private house for the industrialist Sir Richard Arkwright. Easy parking stunning views, excellent rooms and an excellent breakfast to start the day. Good craft bottled local beer in the bar. Second visit just even better than the first. Photo taken from my room window in the morning.

The manager welcomed us personally and often came over to see if everything was ok. Nice touch I thought which gave a personal touch, making me feel welcome. Food was well cooked and plentiful. Waiting on...

Didn't actually stay in the castle, we were in The mews which is like a little building up the hill. The room was ok, only criticism I have is that it could do with some work and a bit of a refurb. The blind in the bathroom was covered in mould. Bed was comfy. The pool is up another hill...

I stayed here as part of a singing workshop. I shared a twin room with a friend. The bedroom was huge, with an en-suite bathroom. It had windows on 2 aspects, one looked across to the cliffs towards Cromford. The other had a beautiful view east, down the drive and beyond. Lovely for watching the sunrise. Food at mealtimes was...
