Detailed Reviews
We booked a 2day short break in stunning Pembrokeshire and wasn’t disappointed with the excellent accommodation at Y Garth. Joyce the proprietor was so thoughtful and attentive throughout our stay and if we had a spotless room which adhered fully to all COVID regulations and more.
Breakfast was outstanding with a first class choice to cater for everyone’s needs. There is lots to do in the area, plenty of trails for walking, beaches near by and the towns of Newport and Fishguard in very close proximity. We found a lovely little 9 hole golf course at Priskilly which was in immaculate condition and the owners were so very friendly and helpful. Overall a wonderful experience which we hope to do very soon again. One word of advise book restaurants in advance for evening meals it’s very busy!

We enjoyed our stay here for 3 nights and for the en-suite it was not expensive, conveniently located outside the major town by only 3 miles was sold out. Bed was comfortable and the room was very clean but outdated grandma decor. Breakfast was ok not five star, sorry. Not bad but frozen hash browns and commercial sauce on the eggs Benedict are never 5 star. I can made hallandaise with my eyes closed and this was paste. This place is nice, convenient and inexpensive but more 3 star, a huge stretch to claim 5!

We spent two nights at Y Garth and could not fault it. Everything was quality, our room was decorated and furnished as you would expect in a 5 star with all facilities. Breakfast was varied, I had full fry up both days cooked just right and my wife had salmon one day and scrambled egg the next. A good selection of cereal, fresh fruit and juice was available . The whole place was clean and tidy and Joyce is a lovely host. We will definitely stay here next time we are in Dinas and have no hesitation in recommending Y Garth.

We had a pleasant stay at Y Garth. The host was very welcoming and hospitable, the room and the bed were comfortable and the breakfast good. However, we were disappointed that it didn’t live up to it’s 5* boutique claims. We’ve stayed in 5* boutique B&Bs throughout the country and I’m afraid this doesn’t compare in terms of décor, furnishings or presentation and is quite dated. As only 2 of the 3 rooms are en-suite I don’t understand how it could be graded as 5*. The owner has a dog which you could smell when you entered although it didn’t come near the guests. The bedroom was pleasant and nicely decorated but it wasn't a luxury room be any means. The ensuite is just standard. The floor of the ensuite had some hairs and a cracked tile and there was mould on the sealant in the shower. For a 5* I would expect some known brand toiletries including hand/body lotion presented in luxury dispensers and perhaps a large heated mirror. As a small B&B I understand the preference for guests to give their breakfast choice and time the day before but there was no option to break down the choice of cooked breakfast e.g guest 1 only bacon and sausage and guest 2 with other choices. As it was, I left what I didn’t want. The dining room and breakfast presentation is again nice but not as you would expect from a 5*. To reiterate, it’s a nice, comfortable typical standard B&B that I would rate as 3* but disappointing if you do expect 5* or even 4* luxury.

Y Garth is perfectly located, within walking distance, for the Pembroke Coast path and especially the spectacular Dinas Head walk. Preselli hills are also close by, as are several good hostelries for Evening meals.
Furnishings and appliances are all top quality in the room, fresh milk and chilled water available in the in-room fridge, boiler for tea and capsule coffee maker complete the beverage facilities.
Great choice of ample breakfast, all cooked and presented well, along with cereals, toast and fruit etc. Very well set up for a day out and about in West Wales.
Joyce could not have been more welcoming or accommodating, highly recommended.

We opted to stay in Dinas Cross due to its great location and we were so happy we chose Y Garth. It’s a lovely house and Joyce was so welcoming. Our room was very comfortable and our private bathroom (which was across the corridor) was large with everything we could need. As others have said, the breakfast was fabulous. Great choice of breakfast options and all food was of high quality. We were able to walk to two local pubs and explored the surroundings lanes leading to beaches. We would definitely recommend Y Garth and hope to return next year.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at this venue.
Having previously stayed at another establishment several miles away which was quite disapointing this B&B was such a superb. The decor, quality accessories and breakfasts are superb. We will definitely be returning when we next visit family.

How refreshing to stay in accomodation that has plenty of drawer space, a big wardrobe and mirrors, lots of spaces provided for toiletries, lovely furnishings and decor.
So many extra touches that puts Y Garth a cut above the rest.
The proprietor Joyce has gone that extra mile to make your stay enjoyable and relaxing.
Lots of choices for an excellent breakfast too!
This is a beautiful area to visit and we certainly recommend Y Garth and look forward to returning.

Maybe my expectations were to high when I booked this 5 star B&B. On arrival we got no welcome coffee like offered in other b&b we visited in WaleS. Our room was okay except that it was not clean. the carpet was full of dust and also the bathroom was not that clean. Breakfast was just average, I ordered continental breakfast and got myself 1 croissant on top of the cereals and toast. Only getting 1 croissant was really dissappointing.
So a bit of a dissappointment. There are other B&b in the vicinity that are less expensive with real hopsitality and clean rooms.

Disappointed to read this comment - I always strive to maintain the highest standards. Doesnt tie in with any other comments I've ever had. Not once have I had a negative comment either verbally or in my guest comment book. Almost invariably guests comment on the excellent breakfast feasts (never have I just offered a croissant as a continental breakfast - there's always a variety of cheeses and ham as well as a selection of breads and of course the fruit salad). Beautiful clean rooms is another comment I very often find written. I am very proud to be the owner of Y Garth guest house and look forward to many more years of providing 5* hospitality to appreciative guests.

The T5 Richards Bros bus passes through the village every hour - either going north or south. There is a bus stop at the bottom of our road which is approx. 50yds. There is also a train station in Fishguard which is only 4 miles away.
