Nice place to know the life style of Rungus Tribe. The used to live in a long house in order to protect themselves from other tribe. So, typically in a long house, 15/20 families used to live together. The chief of the house used to live in the middle. So, if they need a new room, they extend both side.... More

I book a single room but given a shared room. I find several bed are not clean completely. Sometimes ants come on the bed. If you are O type blood person, you are not encouraged to stay there because have risky of get bite by mosquitoes. However, I am satisfied after have dinner. I can use Internet using Maxis data... Great experience here with gracious host/hostess - great traditional food (no luxury or pretension!), an enjoyable half hour culture show, and particularly helpful, well spoken guide, who drove us to the nearby gong making village, the honey bee village, waited while we shopped and lunched in Kudat then drove us around searching for accomodation at the tip of borneo. This was a wonderful building.The surrounding area was rural and beautiful. Unfortunately that was about it. Contrary to what was written on the Sabah Tourism website, there were absolutely no activities for visitors. Maranjak Longhouse When we arrived and said we had a booking for an overnight stay everyone looked puzzled, regardless of this we were shown to our room. We were prepared for basic, which it was, we were prepared for outside amenities which they were but what we weren't prepared for was the graciousness of our young hosts, the delicious evening... Feed your eyes with a fresh countryside scenery, with the green rice mill view and our majestic Mt. Kinabalu view from Kota Belud wing and some palm oil plantation along the way. Maranjak Longhouse Lodge located at northern district of Kudat, Sabah. Build based on the traditional method just like the Rungus people have lived long time ago.On the way to Maranjak Longhouse, we will stop at honey bee farm and gong factory.we will see how they live by taking honey bees and making the gong.
