Disappointing. Very tired in public areas. The food by far was the worst. We sent the evening meal back twice. Staff under pressure. Afternoon tea at the spa was very poor quality. The treatment advertised 55 mins but running late, left for 5 mins to get on bed. Then finished 10 mins early. Outside area in spa would have been lovely if only more than 3 sunbeds were there. It was a sunny day but no thought to offer seats outside. Room not serviced. Beds not made, cups not washed. Overall not the best experience. Faye at breakfast was very pleasant. Wouldn't visit again.

Relaxing spa massage and facial was fantastic. Professional staff put at ease from the moment you walk through the door. Can't recommend too highly. A break from the busy world outside. I nearly fell asleep during my treatment. Whether coming for a swim/ gym or a treatment it's well worth a visit.

I arrived at the hotel tired and stressed. So easy to relax wonderfully quiet wooded environment. The room was very comfortable and it was lovely to have a proper armchair to sit in. Very friendly helpful staff. A pleasant barman made delicious cocktails. Faye and Lorraine were so warm and friendly at breakfast and so eager to please. I loved their Liverpool accents. Would recommend this hotel to all my friends.

The whole experience was superb! Treatments in the spa were fantastic and the rooms were so comfortable. Our waitress at breakfast Faye and Lorraine couldn't have been more accommodating, 1 member of our party has a nut allergy and they went above and beyond to give her everything she wanted. Would definitely recommend this hotel and spa!

My mum and I had a spa day voucher gifted to us and we chose the Craxton wood hotel and spa for our trip. We also decided to book a night at the Craxton wood hotel too. We stayed in a standard king room and it was lovely, super comfy pillows, a nice large bed, and breakfast included for the next morning. The staff were all really kind an welcoming on arrival and we were able to easily check in to our room and was to the bar for a drink. After a fab nights sleep we were greeted the following morning by Faye, for breakfast, who seated us at a perfect quiet table to suit our preferences. She made me feel very comfortable by catering for my needs as a fussy individual and made my first spa experience a real pleasure. I had the continental breakfast and there was a fabulous selection of cereals, fruits, pastries, toasts and spread etc, my mum had the cooked breakfast which also looked really nice. Our spa experience was also amazing, the pool, saunas, steam rooms, and relaxation rooms were pleasant, and I had a brilliant massage from Lisa and felt so relaxed and looked after. We had lunch at the Vital coffee bar in the spa area which was all pre arranged and sorted thanks to Faye’s help. It’s been a really nice relaxing, restful getaway and I highly recommend the Craxton Wood hotel and spa.! Thank you so much 😊…

Disappointing! Too many things to list but here are a few: A family room with only 2 cups, 2 towels, 2 of everything? There's 3 beds so surely it's common sense to imagine there will be 3 people needing to have a drink or a wash! No wine in room as requested, and even when we asked at reception we were told we were mistaken. Yet halfway through dinner ( when we had already bought drinks) the bottle arrives. The evening meal was a very, very long wait. We had to ask for our order to be taken after waiting for 20 minutes. Then a further 40 minutes for the food to arrive. There really is no point in having set meal times if the staff can't cope with the bookings? Everyone around us was frustrated and hungry! The food was good though. I had sent an email to the manager beforehand to make a request, which turned out wasn't possible. Yet, when I arrived the very thing I had asked for was available?! I will be writing about this direct to Macdonald group. Breakfast felt like an interrogation! Quick fire questions before you even get to sit down, not relaxing at all. The waitress was defensive and snappy. She made breakfast feel very uncomfortable. Again, the food was fine but ruined by the front of house staff. We had booked a deal with Chester zoo tickets, which we had to remind staff about. Just like the wine and the cups! Great stay. Really nice hotel grounds. The gym was clean and well equipped. The food was delish! Faye took amazing care of us at breakfast. Room was clean and comfy. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Will gladly come back!
