This is a great location with beautiful views. The rooms are very comfortable but the best is the River cottage. It's got 3 bedrooms ensuite, very spacious, clean, comfortable and very tasteful. Nice lounge, new kitchen, good choice of wines and cold drinks. The staff is very helpful and friendly too. Definately come back!

We spent 2 nights in the nicely decorated Fish Eagle Room with terrace and superb view on the river and the dunes. Lots of water birds and plenty of weavers in the garden. For dinner, there is a bar with decent 'bar' food at 3 minutes walking distance! Dungbeetle river lodge also organises tours in Addo Elephant Park. We had... More

Stayed 2 nights at the 3 bedroom en-suite river cottage, which is ideal for a small group of 4 - 6 people. House is spacious, tasteful modern decorated, very clean and tidy. Honesty bar well stocked. Cottage is directly located on the bank of Sunday River. Beautiful view and peaceful quiet surrounding. Breakfast is served on the wooden deck at... More

A lovely lodge overlooking the Sundays River. Very attentive service, high quality decor, well stocked minibar, fabulous views over the river. I stopped for one night during a work trip...wish I could have stayed longer.

We had an awesome few days there. We had a beautifully decorated and very spacious family suite with a river view. My little boy could fish off the jetty right in front of our room. There are canoes to go along the river and stop and go exploring on the beautiful sand dunes. The breakfasts were outstanding not to mention... More

We stayed just one night here but will definitely be back as soon as possible. The lodge is beautifully furnished - we had a river facing room which was so tranquil and relaxing we didn't want to move anywhere. What makes this place so special is the staff. Leoni and carol were amazing to the point at the evening bbq... More

Breakfasts were very good with lively warm homemade bread. Especially when taken on the verandah with the view of the river. The staff and owners were extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for us to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The location and proximity to the national park was excellent. We thoroughly recommend booking a safari with them.... More

Booked for 2 nights and stayed 3. Wonderful access to Addo National Elephant Park, gorgeous river to take a paddle on, dunes that go for ever...and should not be missed. But the best part of the stay was Etta and Derek. They are exceptional hosts and have thought of everything one might need. Thank you for the loan of the... More

We booked 4 nights here as the last leg of our tour of South Africa and honestly, it wasn't long enough. The owners Derek and Etta went out of their way to help make our stay magical. Especially as we didn't have a car. Our rooms were amazing. I strongly recommend the Africa and Fish Eagle rooms, the only two... More

We stayed at Dungbeetle River Lodge for 4 nights and celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary while there. Derek and Etta really extended themselves to make our celebration special. The warmth of their hospitality and the lengths they went to to make our anniversary one to remember is greatly appreciated! The accommodation is spotless and very comfortable, right on the river....
