We did loved this hotel most. Receptionist was friendly and did speak good English. Room was very nice and clean. No kitchen working for evening meal. Breakfast was lovely. Centre is 10 min drive away with loads of restaurants where to have a bite.

The manager of the hotel, Loris, is an absolute saint! Foolishly, several months prior to my wife's and my departure booked the Meridiana Country Hotel, not based upon the distance between where we planned on touring, but rather based solely upon glowing reviews. I am a review obsessed person by nature, and rarely eat at any restaurant, go to any attraction, or stay at any hotel without doing extensive research about the reviews beforehand. Back to the conundrum, since I vetted the reviews, but not the location I quickly realized my mistake of booking a hotel so far away once we arrived at the train station in Florence. There were assistants at the train station, who I assume were lifelong Florencians, and they hadn't the slightest clue how best to travel to the hotel's location. We ended up taking a train to the Il Neto station and then became stuck with no bus to take us the rest of the way. We were hopeless and might as well have been in the middle of wilderness since we were no longer tourists in places catering to them in leaps and bounds, but instead strangers in a very foreign land. I called the hotel for advice and the front desk agent advised us to call a taxi, however with the time of night and the distance between us and Florence I thought that there were minute chances of a taxi showing up. Enter Lawrence: we were walking blindly down the street in the dark in Il Neto hoping to come across a store where we could ask for advice, and lo and behold someone gets out of a black SUV and asks us if we are going to the Merdiana Country Hotel. The look on my face turned almost immediately from sheer shock to absolute joy, we were saved! The consummate gentleman Lawrence drove over an hour round-trip to get us. He refused my gas money and only wished us a pleasant stay with him, and pleasant stay we had indeed. Service excellence is Loris' most important competitive advantage and is his distinguishing edge. His ethos is built on the Golden Rule, of treating others as you would like to be treated. With this simple yet powerful credo, Lawrence was been able to turn moments of desperation, such as ours, into a memorable and happy stay. Thank you again Lawrence, from the bottom of our hearts, and rest assured that my wife and I won't soon forget you! -Michael and Silvia from Austin, TX

Hi, My wife and I stayed in this hotel for 6 nights for our vacation in Tuscany. The hotel was very close to the "Florence Airport", distance of about 15 minutes from there, It's recommended to be with a car when staying in that location. The hotel have some sort of new and old look combined together, Our room was pleasant and very clean, with a balcony and view for the far mountains. Breakfast was also good, we tasted every day another kind of cheese that was served for us by the staff, we were missing some more salad options, but it was fine. The hotel staff were great, friendly and helped us with all of our requests, Especially the hotel manager – he is "one of the kind", answered all of our questions, suggested us places to go, tips, and all in great kindness, He also helped us when we had trouble with some things on our vacation, that saved us a lot of time and money. We want to say big thanks again, and hope other will enjoy too as we did.

The hotel is rather shabby. Apparently, tolerable for transit for one night, but you will not get any satisfaction from a long stay. We planned to spend three nights, but we ran away after the first. Breakfast is of average quality.

My husband and I stayed here one night during our travels into Florence. We were throughly impressed with the price, friendly staff, and free breakfast in the morning. There is a hidden gem/locals restaurant across the street which is a huge plus ad there is not a restaurant at this hotel.

We booked into this hotel as it was on the outskirts of Florence and had a bus route in. Despite having a car we didn't want to drive into Florence city centre so this was an important factor when choosing our hotel. We arrived at the hotel about 8pm and was greeted by two members of staff who swiftly and promptly checked us in. We were advised where our room was and took the luggage up. The hotel was busy but the area was very quiet. At check in we were provided with the usual information regarding breakfast etc. We arrived in our room and saw that we had a safe and fridge. The fridge had water in it but we had brought our own. We got changed and went out for dinner. As we left the reception area for dinner we asked if kettle facilities were available or if it would be possible to hire a kettle for our room. The gentleman advised the bar area could be used 24 hours a day for hot drinks as kettles are not standard but he would see what he could do to provide us with a kettle in our room. We were happy with the information we could get hot water from the bar and thanked him and left for dinner. A few hours later we returned and a kettle was plugged in on the desk by the tv. We couldn't believe how accommodating the hotel was. This was the first time a hotel had gone truly above and beyond especially as it wasn't standard for the rooms. We used the kettle to make hot drinks which was very helpful for us. The bedroom was very comfortable and the shower was good. Breakfast was fantastic, you had coffee on request and a section of teas to help yourself to. The hotel had the standard fruit, cereal, toast, yoghurts, hard boiled eggs and cold meat, but they also had a hot selection of scrambled eggs and one of either sausage or bacon. The scrambled egg was the best I have ever tasted. They also had pastries and a jam/fruit tart. The breakfast was buffet style so you could help yourself and keep refilling your glass. The staff here work hard and are so friendly, they answer all questions with knowledge and provide maps and bus timetables with brilliant knowledge and helpful tips. I would highly recommend this hotel and thank the staff for all the assistance and knowledge they provided us during our stay. They are a credit to the hotel. I hope I can return again to the Meridiana Country hotel.

I spent 5 nights at Meridiana Country hotel for my holiday in Tuscany. I used this hotel as a base to reach many cities and villages. The longest trip was about 2 hrs drive to Siena. Florence is a short drive and to visit the Chianti region is about 1.5hrs drive. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful which made us felt very welcome. If you would like to do so shopping, Barberino Outlet village and I Gigli shopping mall are only 15 mins drive from this hotel. The rooms are nice and breakfast is also good. A small reccomendation to this hotel would be to give more attention to the cleaning. I would stay again in this hotel for my next visit to tuscany.

Lovely quiet hotel in the countryside overlooking Florence. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was a good size and very clean. Mini bar with water. Breakfast was buffet style with plenty to choose from. Easy parking. There is a bar available but no restaurant; but their sister hotel, which is less than 500 metres away, has a restaurant. 30 minute drive into central Florence. Would stay again.

Our stay at Meridian Country Hotel was a highlight for my group. From our first evening on the terrace, to our two great meals (thank you for the steak!) to the restful setting in the hills above Florence, to the hotel itself, It was a wonderful two nights!
