We stayed at Il Torrione for three nights and had an upstairs room which was lovely and had its own ensuite. Breakfast was served each morning in the garden over looking the beautiful lake. Franco, the owner was fantastic, so much food for breakfast. Picked us up from the train station as we had no transport in Italy. Couldn't have...

My wedding guests stayed here & all of them had an amazing time. Our guests filled up the place. They were met by Franco with a welcome prosecco up in the gorgeous garden with a stunning lake view. All of the rooms are really clean & kept well. Nobody had any complaints & full of praises for their entire time....

We stayed one night at Il Torrione. Franco the host is quite a character! The place was great. The views from the garden were amazing. The rooms were clean and modern and comfortable. The bed was a little firm but that was the only minor issue. We loved Castiglion del Lago and can't wait to go back. Beautiful views, amazing...

What a wonderful place to stay for a few days. Breakfast in the garden with views of the lake. A quiet and peaceful location yet only a minute from the heart of Castiglione del Lago. Superb breakfasts, lovely rooms and a very nice owner. We will certainly be returning.

We stopped in Castiglione for a day... but when we found Il Torrione, we decided to stay for 2 more days! The B&B is a gem, really well maintained, extremely clean and well decorated, and there´s the garden... oh, the garden! It´s in one of the towers of the old city wall, and faces the lake and it´s so peaceful...

We have visited this well appointed B and B many times and have never been disappointed. Nor were we this time on what was probably our 7th or 8th stay. Well situated on the wall surrounding Castiglione del Lago and yes, with a tower (with rooms and a splendid view of the lake and town). Our garden room (our favorite)...

My friend and I loved it here. Stunning location, great proprietor, quirky apartment, and very reasonably priced. Our accommodation had genuine, unassuming character. We opted to stay in the 'living tower', so had three floors all to ourselves. There's a small kitchen on the ground floor, a double bedroom and shower room on the second, and a single bed on...

I read the last reviewers experience after I had booked, but before we arrived, and therefore was understandably nervous. However, we have had nothing short of a brilliant stay, with a highly attentive, helpful, and caring owner, Franco. Our room opened up onto the gorgeous garden, and despite 2 days of torrential rain, we finally managed to have breakfast (tasty...

Based on TA reviews I chose Il Torrione and unfortunately was disappointed, to put it mildly. Positives: the garden IS nice to sit in and enjoy the view. The location is good and parking was easy enough. The rest: The room was clean but smelled of stale cigarettes. The gesture of the welcoming glass of prosecco is a nice touch...

We had a lovely stay at Il Torrione, in one of the very pleasant garden rooms. Great hosts - Karin welcomed us with a glass of chilled white wine after a long hot drive and Franco gave us maps and lots of local information. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was a joy in Franco's beautifully tended gardens - a...

“Ask for a garden room. Failing that, opt for a room in the tower overlooking the lake. Accept no substitutes.”

“Apartment in tower is quirky and fun but has the pilot stairs. If you want to play safe and go for something more standard, opt for garden room. There are other rooms inside the main building, but didn't see inside those, so can't comment on them. If you opt for the 'living tower' like we did, you might want to take a travel kettle to keep on the top floor where the balcony is - that's what we did :)”
  • self catering on the garden terrace
  • second floor - it's a holiday, the bed can stay unmade :)
  • early morning view from apartment balcony
