Queen Elena of Savoia’s old residence. Point of reference of the Italian hospitality for 70 years and historic abode of the fine dining. A charming and magnificent Italian tourist attraction. The Grande Albergo Miramare was born in 1947, but it roots are much older as it had been the summer residence of the Italian Royal family. The hotel is composed of six classic-styled villas wisely restored, though keeping unchanged its original structure; it’s surrounded by the Mediterranean maquis with an incomparable view over the of Gaeta. The main villa – Villa Anna – used to be Queen Elena’s private flat; today, it’s the royal suite of the hotel, maintaining both the furniture and the big wrought-iron chandelier intact, belonged to the Savoia family. Family holidays, business meetings, romantic getaways: whatever your stay is, Miramare always is the perfect location. All areas are typified by the Venetian elegant style and provided with all comfort equipments. Each room is one-of-a-kind: they all are enriched with classy, vintage and original furniture, and combined with relaxing and delicate colours. Balconies and terraces offer a breathtaking view perched over the Gulf of Gaeta. It’s been 70 years since the Grande Albergo Miramare became part of the history of the Italian hospitality and the tourism made in Italy. The Miramare is a big restaurant and one of the oldest in Italy, thanks to its long story and tradition imprinted by successful deeds, due to Celletti family at its third generation today. The Sala degli Specchi (the mirrors room) has been recently restored: it’s the building’s flagship because of its fine marble flooring, stunning pure gold chandeliers, magnificent mirrors, as well as the furniture once belonged to the Queen of Savoia. The room boasts an exclusive view over the Gulf of Gaeta. The Grotta del Fauno (the faun’s cavern) was discovered while digging for the restoration of the Mirrors room. The cavern once was the private royals’ cellar; today, it’s a restaurant room built in the stone, furnished with an unmistakable rough style and enriched with details dated back to 1800 but still perfectly preserved. The main wine and food organisations have been awarding the Miramare Restaurant over years; furthermore, it’s also recommended by both Michelin and Gambero Rosso guides. The Miramare Hotel really is a relaxing oasis. It is surrounded by the Mediterranean greenery overlooking the stunning Gulf of Gaeta, it’s provided with a seafront swimming pool and a private beach, which the personnel always take good care of. There is crystal-clear sea and an equipped beach, where it is possible to order lunch from the restaurant thanks to the staff who’s always at the guest’s disposal to guarantee the best wellness. Those who wish to enjoy the beach only without staying at the hotel, it is possible to reach it just passing by the reception.

The hotel, spread over various buildings, is situated in a very well-kept garden landscape with many old palm trees. It can be described as a luxurious oasis on the edge of the hectic center of Formia (small port city). In the garden there is also the large pool with extra toddler pool. The private beach is almost entirely sandy, by the way large gravel. A part of the sea is separated by bunning, where you can swim and bathe in almost any weather. Unfortunately, the beach and pool close already at 18.00.
Our room to the sea was quiet and offered a balcony with magnificent views of Gaeta. The cleaning service worked and cleaned very clean. Unfortunately, the style of the furniture is not completely sustained. From the old somewhat impractical chest of drawers to the plastic veneered cupboard with safe and minibar everything was available.
The breakfast buffet was characterized by a lot of sweets and fruit, unfortunately the similar selection of bread and cold cuts was missing.
Great, however, were the lunch and dinner in the restaurant. Regularly a selection of excellent and high quality primi and secondi (fish and meat) was offered by the very friendly staff.

The hotel is a historic residence of the Savoy, beautiful rooms with a terrace overlooking the sea and its Gulf, all surrounded by an Italian garden and shaded by secular palm trees; the beach equipped and with all services. Very recommended the restaurant, which offers a varied menu and focused on the fish delicacies of the area.
We ate salt-crusted sea bass, sea bream, swordfish, exceptional first courses.
In this structure you really feel pampered and the level of courtesy and attention is really the flagship; a big applause to the Director Mr. Celletti Antonio.
In conclusion Recommendation to couples and families to stay there to learn more about the area and live a unique experience of undisputed historical value.

Room with comfortable bed and vintage furniture, large terrace overlooking the sea with beautiful views and good sea views. Excellent WIFI connection as I have rarely found in the various 5-star hotels around the world. Breakfast poor in terms of offering, especially inexplicably lacking savory foods and fresh juices, only sweets and low quality concentrated juices. Overall, the privileged position makes you forgive the aforementioned flaws. Room price in line with the period and the level of the hotel, in my opinion the excessive cost of half board is unjustified, even considering the good quality of the service offered.

This property was a surprise for us, we were looking for a place to spend four days of peace and we actually found peace and tranquility. What is written about the structure is true: the furnishings should be modernized and the breakfast improved, especially in the gluten-free part. However, it must be said that room 302 on the ground floor, with its patio overlooking the garden and then opening up the view of the sea, is wonderful. The park is very well looked after, the staff is all very kind and hyper professional, the private beach is quiet, spotlessly clean and wonderfully peaceful. Very high sleep quality. In short, not an absolute "perfect" place, but the perfect place for those seeking the beauty of the views, silence and tranquility. To return, definitely.

Location completely surrounded by greenery, well maintained and with a fantastic view of the sea and the Gulf of Gaeta. It was really a pleasure to spend moments of real tranquility and peace.
The real difference, however, is given by the staff of the entire structure, always available, kind, professional, discreet and attentive in meeting the needs of each customer. To complete it all, a restaurant where even the simplest dish becomes particular in every small detail.
Definitely a place of a certain level but where you never feel out of place, in which to find your own dimension and balance.
Ilaria S.

Extraordinary hotel with villas in the Mediterranean forest overlooking the sea. A lagoon between the barrier rocks: fine sand, very clean sea, very accurate seaside service. Excellent cuisine, of high quality with good technique. Absolute availability for the customer. Particular praise goes to the Director, a polite and competent person with total dedication to the customer. I'm sorry to have ended my holiday but I will return as soon as possible. An unexpected dream

The structure, we in Villa Anna, 102, ancient residence of Queen Helen of Savoy spectacular. We had a terrace overlooking the sea a spectacle. Complete relaxation in a great structure... Thanks to the director who made us feel really comfortable involving us every day with care and kindness. Per il mangiare che dire.... Great everything, a never seen half board, great dishes, quality and a special applause to Uncle Peppe's cup.

We have just spent two nights in this hotel.
At €210 with breakfast, we are not in a 4 star hotel. Rather a dilapidated and poorly maintained family inn
THE +
Magnificent setting
Superb garden
Delicious restaurant
Perfect restaurant service at lunchtime and in the evening
Pool
THE -
Tiny rooms (impossible to pass with 2 bags)
Horrible bed (the mattress must be 50 years old, it is completely deformed, guaranteed back pain)
Very poorly done housekeeping
The price of the beach and the swimming pool is not included in the room price
Very average reception
Very unpleasant restaurant service in the morning
Basic breakfast, little choice and nothing very fresh
Wi Fi very bad
Bad beach service (despite the price, we had to ask for towels twice)
Shower hose leaking and had to be changed (but I had to ask twice)
Very noisy room
