This is a high quality and well established hotel in a stunning location. A room with sea view is essential so that you can appreciate the magnificent vistas from dawn to dusk and beyond.
Facilities are excellent as you would expect and we enjoyed the beautiful pool, private beach, outdoor gym and extensive, well maintained and attractive gardens.
Breakfast was included in our package and we enjoyed the extensive buffet and a la carte choices of largely locally sourced and delicious food.
Staff numbers were plentiful but the reason I am not giving a 5 star rating is because it was often difficult to obtain pretty basic items in the restaurant such as water for the table and a wine list. We are not Italian speakers which I am sure added to confusion and these small service glitches should be easy to fix and should not put people off. We would certainly recommend and return.

Still, after more than 60 years, this hotel makes by itself a trip to Maratea worthwhile. The location is exceptional, the hotel - rooms as well as common areas - are decorated with great taste and very comfortable. Add an excellent restaurant, and a small, quiet swimming pool in the garden.
The rooms are very comfortable, the only suggestion would be to renovate the bathrooms so that taking a shower does not flood the same.
Choose a room with sea view and a balcony.

A truly beautiful hotel in the unspoilt Maratea. It is a resort perched on a hill with a pool, and access to a private beach which can be accessed through the pines via a delightful walk (or a golf cart can take you). Although the beach is pebbly, the water was lovely. There are plenty of sun beds and umbrellas. Also waiter service and good snacks at the beach bar. We had a lovely room with really amazing sea views - exceptional in fact. The buffet breakfast was fresh, varied and interesting and the service was very good. The evening meal was excellent too and we had it on the terrace overlooking the sea. Evening meals in southern Italy are generally served from 8pm which we find feels late but all the restaurants open at 8pm, so it is entirely normal for them. Meat and fish options were fantastic quality but it is possible that a vegetarian might have to ask for a suitable main course at most restaurants. The wine choice was extensive and we were guided well with our choice of Basilicata wine because it is not well known outside the region. The hotel was quiet because it was September and we easily got a reservation at the excellent Lantern Rosso at the port. That might not be the case in high season. The reception staff were wonderful, helpful and smiled all the time. Great things to do during your stay is to visit the statue of Christ at the top of the mountain. Drive up, park and walk the last 20 mins (bus option too). What a view! Enjoy!

What an extraordinary surprise to arrive at this, magnificent hotel. I knew that Maratea was a lovely area but it’s beauty far surpassed my expectations
The welcome was marvelous. Antonella and Claudia made me feel like an old friend.
The view from our bedroom , with its large terrace , was as special as any I have ever had around the world.
Dining on the huge patio with its extraordinary views and excellent, cuisine was an additional attraction.
The town of Maratea is a little jewel with many special corners.
I loved swimming in the pool but never visited the beach.
I cannot, recommend this hotel and area highly enough.
It,also,representes excellent value.
Thank you to the entire staff for making my stay so,special.

Our room was comfortable and had a gorgeous view. The pool is gorgeous and pleasant to swim in. The beach was lovely and the ocean was warm. However one day there were orange and lemon peels in the water but that unfortunately is common at times with the tides.

Staying here a few days was a wonderful experience. We found the food fine and the hotel restaurant very pleasant. The grounds are also lovely. The port is not far and they have a shuttle. One day they arranged for a complimentary boat trip which was wonderful.

We also visited the statue of Jesus and the village of Maratea which was also great.

The staff were all great and very helpful at the beach when we requested chairs in the shade.

The restaurant by the pool has two levels. We only discovered that on our last day.

This hotel was on the water and the views were absolutely lovely from both our room and the breakfast terrace. The breakfasts were absolutely amazing. The hotel is beautifully situated, it is very comfortable and the staff are charming. The problem is that it is owned by a family, who also live there and make their presence felt in a most extraordinary way... Eg they sit by the pool, mother father 2 year old tantrum queen, 8 year old boy riding round on his bike, 2 grandmas and assorted pals, they make sure they take the places that keep the sun for the longest time, as trees shade the lovely pool. The other Sunday they occupied 6 sunbeds. They are loud and do what they like. The staff must tread a difficult path as they don't know whom to favour, so when in doubt they attend to the family. They have a large table for all their meals, breakfast lunch and dinner and the only evening that my husband and I dined in, 4 staff danced attendance on the 7 of them, while we jumped up and down to serve our own wine and water [it's placed on a side table for you, not on your table]. At breakfat one morning the little boy, unsupervised, cut himself a slice of cake at the breakfast buffet, and put his hand over the rest of the cake to steady it. This is not a 5 star lusso hotel . I felt I had arrived at Mrs Miggin's boarding house, where I was permitted to use the pool by kind permission. We will never go there again as long as this situation persists.

We went there for a wedding and we were really surprised to find such amazing place,by the seaside. It was a dream which it turned into a nightmare.
Staff is hardly friendly above all when the family owner they are around, apparently they are more important than customers live in and definitely which they pay a lot of money
to be threated badly.
Food is good enough if you think we never had fresh fish but frozen, and this a fact not just a feeling,we heard someone which he was organizing the wedding meal talking about it so they could save money...we thought it was the horror movie night....
By the swimmingpool you can easily notice the wonderful landscape caleed FAMILY OWNERS...They are lying there all day long doing nothing but pretending and shouting at the whole staff, which they really do not care about customers.
The hotel is a masterpiece but really they need to change the whole useless management and aboveall their attitude if they want to keep running the place.
Better if they go and work for a Circus. At the end they spoiled our holiday.
