We stayed at the hotel 25th to 27th September for our first wedding anniversary. The hotel is fantastic, close to train and bus station, both a few minutes walk away. The train into Venice takes about 10 minutes The hotel is lovely and breakfast had a great choice and good service. Would definitely stay here again.

This is a clean hotel with a restraints and bar inside. It is close to public transportation and there are food options and a grocery store near the hotel, the staff was very friendly and allowed for late checkout. They held our bags while we explored the city after our checkout time. They provided excellent recommendations for food and helped us call a taxi when we needed one. You can easily take a train to venice from this location for a low cost and a shot walk

As I was catching a train to Trieste at 07.51 the next day, the Leonardo Royal Hotel in Mestre was the perfect choice for an overnight stay as it is right beside the train station and beside a few restaurants and bars. Arrived from the airport on the ATVO bus - €10 each way !! which only took 15 minutes as I missed the last local bus service from the airport and was checked in promptly to a room on the 9th floor facing the tracks - the noise was negligible overnight as there was so few trains running past. It was a "Leonettes" room and well appointed with lots of space. The bed was very comfortable, plenty of pillows to choose from and I slept very well. There was a minibar , safe , kettle and coffee machine too. Small touches like the complimentary water, slippers and towelling robes were nice . Bathroom was a good size, the shower was easy to use and everything was functional and most importantly, clean. Towels were nice and soft too. Breakfast was included in my rate and starts from 07.00 and it was excellent. Super choice of pastries and breads, some rather good scrambled eggs and bacon. Fruits, cheeses, yogurts and everything to start your day. Well worth the extra. The elevators are pretty cool too, just swipe your card and you are told which car to get into , no touching any buttons inside the elevator, pretty nifty ! Staff were all very helpful and friendly especially in the breakfast room , nothing was too much trouble. There is a mini market nearby and a rather good restaurant cum pizzeria / bar / ice cream opposite the hotel that did a very good Aperol Spritz for €4.50 , all of the food looked very good too and it opened late. I agree with previous reviews that it would be a great location to explore Venice or indeed the surrounding areas as the train service is excellent and the ticket machines so easy to navigate and use. The Leonardo Royal Hotel Venice Mestre was the perfect choice and I'm glad I stayed there.

We decided to stay in Mestre rather than Venice, as it was cheaper, i.e. for your budget you get a much nicer hotel than you would in Venice. (And with 48 transportation pass, we could travel as we wanted to.) This was an excellent choice. The staff was kind and helpful. We booked two rooms and were able to check-in to one of those as early as 10 in the morning, which was refreshing after our trip. The room itself was spacious, with a comfortable bed. The bathroom was spacious too and clean. Breakfast was amazing, so many dishes to choose from.

The hotel is very nice with the tasteful modern design. The rooms have a good size and are equipped with all you need. The breakfast has a lot of choices for everyone. You can easily walk to the center of Mestre or to the train station where you can take a train to Venice. The disadvantage of this hotel is the noise from the train station which will wake you up during the night. As well don’t count on to take the last drink when coming back to the hotel after the dinner because the hotel bar is closing early.

We visit Venice on our 18th Anniversary and opted to stay in Mestre and commute into Venice. The Hotel is excellently located a few minutes walk to all the various forms of transport stations (bus, tram and train) and coach/bus from Marco Polo Airport. The staff especially Barbara and Anabell, were splendid. When Barbara saw us on her off day stranded in Venice, she came to our assistance. We are very grateful to her and will recommend her highly for any internal award for her outstanding dedication to Leonardo Royal on and off work. Based on her kind gesture and the beauty of the Hotel, we will recommend this hotel to all our friends and family visiting Venice and will use it ourself anytime we visit.

New hotel, very close to the Mestre railway station. Rooms are on the small side and tight enough for two people. Great shower. Rooms cleaned daily. Don't waste money on booking the top floor, the view is rooftops, nothing else. Reception staff and bar staff did their job efficiently but never smiled or chatted to the guests. .Breakfast was fine. I noted security officers patrolling the hotel and surroundings late at night. Nice bar / restaurant 50 metres down the street open till 2am if you arrive late. Overall A nice clean modern safe hotel and I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Me and my wife stayed here on the 18th-20th May. The Hotel was excellent from their Staff to the rooms - Plenty of choice for breakfast in the morning and this was between 07:30-10:30 so no need to rush in the morning. We travelled from Marco Polo airport by Bus and this drop you off 3 mins away from the Hotel and you pick up the bus at the same place from where you was dropped off. The Railway station is 5 mins away and you can actually get onto the platform from the walkway behind the hotel and the there are ticket machines on the platform. All trains go into Venice and the other good thing apart from the High Speed Trains all will stop at Mestre so you never have to wait long for a train and it only takes 10 mins. There is a supermarket around the corner or a large Spa 10 mins away. We was able to leave our bags as we arrived early and also had a late flight. We will when we go away we will look at other Hotels in this chain.

Our plan was to book a Venice hotel a couple days ahead of time - when we looked a few weeks earlier, hotels on the island appeared plentiful and affordable. However, it didn't stay that way. A couple days before arriving in Venice, the hotels in the location we wanted were quite expensive, so we opted for Mestre instead. The Leonardo Royal was a nice hotel, and the staff was very friendly. Breakfast was $10 but was pretty good, and they actually had an entrance through the gate directly to the train station. So I don't have any complaints at all about the hotel. If you're going to stay in Mestre, I would recommend this hotel. It's much cheaper than staying on the island. That said, everything we read about how easy it is to get to St. Mark's Square and other areas on the island really wasn't true. Yes, the trains run frequently, but you still have to buy tickets, wait a few minutes (or up to an hour in one case) for the train, and sit through the 15 minute train ride. But that's not all. After you exit the train, you have to walk to the water taxis or water buses and endure a 20-45 minute miserable experience on a super crowded boat before getting to your destination. It's not expensive, but it's not fun at all. When you add together the cost of the train rides and boats and factor in the time it takes to get there and back, staying on the island might be a better deal if you can afford it. My suggestion: plan early and get a hotel somewhere near St. Mark's Square or one of the other neighborhoods that's not too far away. Even if you have to pay a little more, it will be worth it. For last-minute travelers or those looking to save some money, the Leonardo Royal is a great option.
