Upon reflecting on our recent vacation, I was thinking of the experiences and places that we enjoyed that were the absolute best, the “must do’s” you tell your friends and family about when they are considering a trip to Italy. At the very tippy top of that list is our 5 nights at Fonte Martino. What makes a stay at a particular place so memorable? Is it the amenities such as gorgeous flowers and landscaping, a beautiful pool with a million dollar view, en suite heated floors, a rain shower and professional hair dryer in the bath, cold bottled water in the fridge, remote controlled fireplace and black out shades, lovingly prepared breakfasts with pastries, cheeses, yogurt, homemade granola and zucchini bread so delicious and moist from a recipe handed down through generations? Yes, and the list goes on. This has all been stated in earlier reviews. Believe what you read, it’s all true and more! Toby and David were born to be hosts. They both possess a warmth and genuine desire to please their guests and get to know them. Their acts of kindness such as remembering an anniversary with a bottle of wine, flowers for a birthday, making restaurant reservations, suggestions on their favorite local towns to visit, but most importantly, how they treat you and interact with you. This is what makes a 5 star experience and they achieve this level of excellence while also maintaining your privacy. Tuscany is a beautiful region of Italy and a bucket list location for many. My husband and I agreed what made our time spent here special, was choosing to stay at Fonte Martino. After long days of touring, exploring hill towns, walking, climbing, wine tasting, and plenty of gelato, you drive through their gate, start the climb up the driveway, and you begin to relax. It felt like home. A place we were comfortable, happy and well taken care of. In summary, my advice, look no further! Fonte Martino and David and Toby are simply the BEST!

Property's Favourite Review
I don't write the title of this review lightly as I've been lucky enough to stay in some amazing hotels, B&B's and guesthouses from all over the world in my time but what David and Toby have created here at the Fonte Martino is nothing short of breathtaking. You can see from the design and detail of the place and from talking to them that they have truly put all of their passion into making this Guesthouse a wonderful place to stay. The rooms are extremely spacious, clean and filled with mod cons yet have a warm homely feel about them. The outdoor areas also have that modern but homely feel and the place oozes character whilst keeping you relaxed. Upon check in I was a little earlier than I had communicated but this was not a problem for David and Toby and they gave me a warm welcome. I was shown around the property and then left to relax with a complimentary beer. The breakfast made by Toby each morning has a variety of cooked foods, meats, cheeses, pastries, yogurts and cereal. Everything I had was delicious, the cinnamon rolls were a particular delight which I mentioned to them both and when I returned later that day they had left a couple of extra ones in my room! They both greet you like you are family and talk about the day ahead and your plans - all these nice little personal touches make the experience extra special. Communicating with the guys before arriving they kindly booked dinner for me in Montepulciano for both nights and didn't hesitate to help when I asked one to be changed. They both know the area and restaurants extremely well and can give you many recommendations. You will definitely need a car to stay here, I did the walk into Montepulciano one night as I had driven all day and whilst pleasant going past the nearby vineyards it took around 35 minutes with some hills included which could prove difficult for some. Driving into Montepulciano is quick and easy from the property though and David and Toby can happily recommend the best car parks to use. Overall I had a fantastic stay at this mind-blowingly beautiful property with superb and conscientious hosts... and I've not even mentioned the views which deserve their own review! If you ever go to the beautiful town of Montepulciano, make the Fonte Martino your number one place to stay.

My husband and I were fortunate enough to have been gifted a stay at Fonte Martino for our honeymoon. I say "fortunate" not only because the Guest House is *the* most luxurious stay we've ever had, but also because we probably would not have found Montepulciano on our own. It's a smallish hilltop town steeped in Medieval and Renaissance history; it has an urban flair but is still very much in the hands of the locals, so we knew that we were getting an authentic Tuscan experience. The Guest House is a short drive from Montepulciano, but we (avid hikers) were happy to walk roughly 30 minutes whenever we wanted to go into town. If it weren't for the beautiful views of Montepulciano right outside our door, there would be no reason to leave the suites. The suites are spacious and warm with both rustic and modern touches. The beds and pillows are comfy, making sleeping in all too easy, and the showers are big enough to land a small plane in. Some items in the suites testify to David and Toby's attention to their guest's needs, from the umbrellas available in case of rain to the lint roller in the closet. Breakfast was served each morning buffet-style and homemade, including hot quiches with different veggies each day and fresh pastries. I loved the zucchini bread so much that Toby even shared the recipe, which has been in his family for generations. David and Toby are the perfect hosts. They received us warmly and showed us around the property, which includes a pool, yoga deck, and bocce ball court, all with stunning views of Montepulciano. Their enthusiasm for their work is clearly evident, and they are eager to share their favorite spots in and around Montepulciano. From them, we received dinner recommendations (and David's assistance making reservations since we don't speak Italian); parking advice (in Cortona and Siena as well as Montepulciano); and local tips (like other hilltop towns in the area that we could explore, or where we could see Etruscan ruins). I also secretly asked David and Toby if we could do something special for my husband's birthday, so they ordered a cake from a local bakery that was as beautiful as it was delicious. If there is a problem with Fonte Martino, it's this: all of our future holidays will pale in comparison now that we've stayed here.

A fabulous four days at Fonte Martino we had. Toby and David are amazing. They have turned this estate into an elegant, while at the same time comfortable retreat. They are wonderful hosts, and attend to everything you need. The rooms are stylish and immaculate, and the view is like none other. When we checked in, we asked for suggestions on dining and necessities. By the time we had gotten to our room, I received 5 links from Toby with all of our questions answered. The breakfast was to die for, and we felt safe and well cared for. Please, don't go anywhere else...and we will be back.
