Il Riccio truly is one of those authentic gems that all independent travelers hope to experience. The location, the building itself and the views over the town and valley are fantastic. Don't miss sitting on the rooftop deck, one of many great aspects of the hotel. Gio and his family are very enthusiatic, helpful hosts. Breakfast is great and its hard to beat the atmosphere in the room. The superior rooms are good sized, the bathroom is a little tight but updated. Getting to the top of town is a little tricky and the hotel does not have elevators, there are a couple of flights of stairs to climb. These last two points are a small price to pay for such an authentic experience in Tuscany. Lastly, we have been fortunate to travel in Italy on a few occasions, the Il Riccio's price point is terrific

This family B&B is in the heart of Montepulciano, Grande Piazza! The top of the town with everything steps away! Great restaurants; Duomo, wine tastings, TI, little bus shuttle, and 40 minute tour minibus a few feet away! This accommodation is really exquisite! It’s part of the 1200s old walls with a Tuscany view, like no other! Joe is a great host with breakfast available!

We stayed two nights and we had a great experience. The rooms are very confortabile and super clean! Ivana prepares beautiful cakes and the husband was so kind to explain the history of historical building and show us the collection of storic cars and explain the Picts. If you have the chance take the superior room, it’s wonderful with a beautiful view of the valley. We stayed in the standard with the view which was great too! Thank you again

This was our second stay at Il Riccio. We were happy to be back. The staff are the same, Ivana, Gio and Simona. Everything about this hotel is first class. Things we particularly enjoyed were: Our Huge room, the 180 degree panoramic view of the Tuscan countryside, free parking, great breakfasts ( 8 euros extra) and the helpful service provided by Ivana, Gio and Simona. If you can get room 33 - that has fantastic views and is the largest room you will stay in during your trip. Beautiful wood ceilings, modern bathrooms, what a delight.

I really enjoyed my 1 night stay in the suite #33. The room was large and beautiful, with a wonderful balcony overlooking the town below. The room also has a loft with a small bed that my son used. The owner was a very friendly man. The location is steps from the main piazza of the town. Parking (included in the rate) is close by but still requires a bit of a walk over cobblestone streets with luggage. A couple of things brought down my rating from 5 points to 4: 1) I was approached, in not really a friendly manner by the co-owner (the man's wife) who was upset that I had my son in the room. I had booked via email and was quoted a price of €180 for a loft room with 2 beds. She wanted an additional €20 for the 3rd person? The room is meant for 3! That was very uncomfortable, made me feel like I was trying to get over on her. 2) Breakfast was not included in the rate. It's fine if that's their policy, but for €200 I feel they could give us a few complementary croissants. So overall I had a great 1-night stay and a couple of improvements could have earned the full 5 points from me.

Dear Phamer, we want to clarify the following: the reservation was made for a double room (2 people) and 3 people arrived at check-in. Obviously the price of the room is different if it is used by two people or by three. We believe this happens all over the world and therefore our request for an extra 20.00 Euro is more than justified therefore your complaints are not founded. We also want to remind you that we provide our queste with what they need for a hearty breakfast. We do not serve lunch or dinner.
