I have to admit: it is hard to find anything wrong with this place, there are of course some small areas of improvement but having tried several "villaggi" in Italy, this goes straight to the top of my list. First of all, they have a huge advantage: the bay of Palinuro is one of the most enchanting of the world; the views from the rooms will stick forever in your memories. This hotel offers accomodation in small villas with an all-inclusive package, which is a plus in Italy where you normally end up paying everything seperately: all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) + beach with parasol and sun lounges included. There are also a number of activities included such as archery, kids clubs, sports (football, volley, basket and many others) and entertainments (negative point: all shows are in Italian only). The rooms are spacious and very clean; we were concerned about the fact they had no air con but the roof fans are more than enough as the heat is not humid and evenings are fresh. The food is spectacular, not a simple hotel selection but several dishes of high chef standards. The materials, as explained by the ched, are selected every morning according to what the local fishermen and farmers have fished or picked which insures the highest standards. The breakfast though was somewhat disappointing, very much oriented at the italians with a selections of croissants and different jams and marmelades to go with but only two types of cereal and very limited savoury selection (couple of hams and cheeses with bread). Also we didn't like the fact that the espresso was not included. The hotel is also located on top of a cliff and in order to get to the beach you have to walk up and down some steps. Good exercise but could be challenging if you are unfit or disabled; parents with small children seemed to cope ok. The private beach is mainly sand but as you go in the crystal clear water (it is located in the heart of a protected area) you need to be careful about the rocks. The staff is brilliant, everybody would go out of their way to help. Finally, with meals you get unlimited house wine and one beer (Peroni) or soft drink for kids. The place is located in the heart of Palinuro with its many bars and pizzerias. I would strongly recommend this place. The hotel organises several tours such as Pompei, Paestum and the local grottos (by boat). We did the short boat trip to the local grottos (including Grotta Azzurra) and it was really something.

Awesome resort, with low environmental impact, breathtaking views, crystal clear water. The "Villaggio degli Olivi is an oasis of calm where you can spend a fun family holiday at the same time, with family but also with friends. Spaces very well kept, very clean swimming pool, animation engaging but never intrusive, catering to a good standard. For those who love, the PADI 5 star "Mauro Sub" leads to the discovery of the caves and seabed of Capo Palinuro. The only flaw is the steep climb towards the beach.
